Before venturing into the development of lifesaving devices in 1997, Manish was active in industries relevant to chemical trading and international laser machining. It was around that time he came across the concept of the coronary stent and its huge demand across the Indian market. Coming up with the notion of economizing the product, Manish assembled some qualified engineers to establish his first venture to upsurge the design of cardiovascular devices, especially coronary stents in India.
After acquiring a bit of experience regarding the functionalities of the medical devices, Manish went ahead with his next venture Concept Medical in 2008. With the motto of working on the notion of advancing innovation, Manish started Concept Medical to identify the limitations in the best products available across the global market and work on those products to improve further. Define the concept of innovative medical device as an organization and how has it been maintaining its mark in the domain?
We believe in advancing innovation and our business statement is about converting concepts into reality. We have been able to achieve some exemplary advancements in areas related to dialysis, balloon angioplasty, reintervention, erectile dysfunction, catheterization, and so on. We are experts in designing drug coated balloons, and drug eluting stents, with the latter being especially useful for the patients having diabetic conditions. Since maximum people have atherosclerosis now a days,we have designed Drug coated balloons for that. Previously people were aware of only coronary angioplasty, but we have introduced peripheral angioplasty to solve the problem for a lifetime in just a few hours. We are going to be the first company in the world to enter the United States and Japan from India in terms of designing advanced medical devices.

Give a gist about your proprietary technologies that have been catering to unmet needs in the Cardio vascular and Peripheral Intervention field. How are they facilitating drug transfer as well as achieving adequate drug Bioavailability in the tissue?
There are a few customized technologies that we have created in this regard which are patented, and it has resulted in boosting our confidence to excel further in this field. We try not to disclose these projects even within our team due to stiff competition, but we have more than 400 people working in our team to take Concept Medical way ahead of its vision. We have managed to create an excipient which is a blood mimicking component and through that we deliver the drugs. We are the first company to get European approval for sirolimus coated balloon to treat below the knee, superficial femoral artery, erectile dysfunction as well dysfunctional fistula and graft apart from coronary applications. We have also managed to develop a proprietary drug delivery technology to use for erectile dysfunction and we are hopeful about using the same for oncology in the future as well.
Tell us about the kind of challenges faced by the company when operating in a COVID affected market? How did you help to clear the path enabling the company carry forward its missions?
During the COVID, our company envisaged few significant hurdles because we are established in the market commercially. Commencing our journey few years back, we have been trying to establish Our selves by entering at least one country every year. Although, our products are available in more than 70 countries across the world as COVID approached, we were restricted by only emergency angioplasties and cardio vascular procedures across the world.
Since, most of our raw materials are imported, their deliveries were delayed hence causing a delay in shipping our materials to various destinations as well. These were some of the major difficulties that we faced during the first three months of COVID lockdown, but we managed to overcome the hurdles by building a new manufacturing facility which is six times bigger than the previous one. Concept Medical is Asia’s largest manufacturing facility for DCB and DES and we are proud to say it is currently one of most highly compliant manufacturing facility in cardiovascular devices manufacturing Industry of India.
Where do you envision taking Concept Medical towards the road ahead and what is the summit set in for reaching?
We work closely with our team as well as our promoters, who majorly contribute across our growth factors. We would like to create a successful company and make our products reach across the United States as well as Japan, one of the most regulated markets. We have come across numerous people who think that inter nationally manufactured products are synonymous with good products. They seem to prefer products of multinational companies over Indian products, and I want to change this mindset of customers. We want to create a benchmark that will create demand for Indian products, not only across the United States but in other countries as well. We have already been highlighted on the Times Square and we want to keep this a routine affair. In the upcoming days, my aim is to see the name of Concept Medical on NASDAQ.
