Even though it was the hard way, the past couple of years have taught us a thing or two about the importance of using technology to solve social problems. The global communities saw how Data Analytics and Predictive computing played a significant role in pandemic preparedness and the development of vaccines. It’s no wonder that we expect more from the scientific communities in that regard. They constantly look for robust, high-performance computing and predictive technologies to better understand major societal challenges, including new treatment methodologies and cures.
Solutions through an innovative, technologically sound multidimensional approach are the need of the hour. Indian IITs have been at the forefront of accomplishing this for more than a century. A case in point is new research by the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). The researchers from the institute have identified and validated three proteins found in saliva that can predict metastatic Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). They developed a process by which biomarkers for TNBC can be identified in saliva. Remember, Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women in India, with more than 1.6 lakh cases registered and more than eighty thousand deaths yearly due to breast cancer. The new non-invasive and sensitive procedure to detect cancers in their early stages could go a long way toward treatment.

With a legacy that goes back to 1847 a formidable history of more than 155 years IIT Roorkee continues to engender intellectually capable, innovative, and entrepreneurial professionals. Over the past 150 golden years, the institute has pioneered various fields and boasts of one of the largest alumni networks in the country. This special edition of CEO Insights is dedicated to them as they continue to make the institute proud.
