It’s been only a couple of months since Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT) in Surat celebrated its 20th convocation. The esteemed President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, honored the prestigious event. During her address, she emphasized the pivotal role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in contemporary discourse and highlighted the concerted efforts of the Indian government and state authorities in harnessing AI for national development.

The President went on to shower praise on the initiatives of leading technology firms in leveraging India's burgeoning AI capabilities. She urged premier institutions
like SVNIT to forge synergistic partner-ships with the corporate realm, nongovernmental organizations, and research entities to bridge the AI skill gap in the country. Underscoring the significance of the youth demo-graphic, she envisioned their instrumental contribution to propelling India to the forefront of the global technological arena, particularly in the domains of AI and machine learning. “Students should use science to guide their technical skills, problem-solving skills and innovative thinking for nation-building. They should not only find engineering solutions that align with international standards but also set new standards of innovation, efficiency, and inclusion. They not only have to think about their job and career, but also use their knowledge, alumni networks and technical skills to create new businesses and employment opportunities,” she opined.

SVNIT has always been at the forefront of techno-logical innovation. For instance, a few months ago, SVNIT distinguished itself on the national platform once again by winning the prestigious award in the Excellence for Technical Education category at the 'Vibrant India 2023' event. In this yearly special issue, we shed light on the prestigious alumni of SVNIT. Do let us know your thoughts.
