Effective water management is a matter of survival, especially for a country with a massive population of 140 crore. It plays a vital role in tethering rural India with drinking water. A Jharkhand-based startup, Kritsnam Technologies, has come up with a solution Dhaara Smart Flow Meter, which helps in effective groundwater management across the country. The government has adopted their technology, announcing financial support of Rs. 3.29 crore to the company.
Dhaara Smart Flow Meter is an integrated system for online monitoring using two-beam ultrasonic flowmeters designed to track the water distribution in realtime for applications such as drinking water supply, groundwater extraction, industrial water usage, and precision irrigation. The device collects data through sensors, stores it at the edge, and then uploads it to the cloud. The data is then analyzed and displayed in the dashboard. The government anticipates that Dhaara Smart Flow Meter will greatly benefit Atal Bhujal Yojana (Atal Jal), a Rs. 6,000 crore Central Sector Scheme, for sustainable management of groundwater resources.

It is, in fact, a great omen that Jharkhand's startup ecosystem is thriving, contributing to nation building right from the ground level. Cocccon-Crafts & Loom, social entrepreneurship turned organic silk company, is a case in point. The company's unique business model continues to create abundant employment opportunities in rural parts of India and expand sustainable fashion choices beyond organic cotton or hemp with highquality silk. This issue is about business leaders from Jharkhand who power the startup realm in the state and beyond.
