It’s no secret that students from IIMs are at the top of the business world and behind some of the world’s unicorns. Over the past several decades, they have been at the forefront of innovations, producing fantastic business ideas and creating a safer, better, sustainable world. But given the cutthroat competition across industries, we can’t really blame employers for expecting new candidates to be smart generalists go-getters producing outcomes beyond their technical or theoretical competence. But the limitations of traditional higher education systems in the country make supplementary education platforms promoting increased agility and learning aptitude all the more important to say nothing of
the need to create ‘global’, socially sensitive professionals.

Promoting more collaborative approaches among educational institutes and defining new courses in this direction could go a long way toward this. Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM - Tiruchirappalli) is setting a great precedent with Executive Programs like ‘Leadership and Change Management (EPLCM)’ to equip learners to be change-makers by boosting their competencies in responding to changes and the need for business transformations. The program aims at helping students gain a conceptual understanding of how organizations evolve, transform, and change.

The eleventh IIM, IIM–Tiruchirappalli, was established in January 2011. The institute currently offers a two-year full time residential Post Graduate Program in Management(PGPM), a two year Post Graduate Program in Business Management(PGPBM) for working executives at its Chennai satellite and a Fellow Program in Management(FPM) for Doctor of Business Administration candidates, among others. The institute’s alumni ecosystem is already home to a few stellar business leaders, and this issue is dedicated to them. Do let us know your thoughts.
