Take us through your illustrious professional journey so far. What are your core competencies?
I have worked in various aspects since 1987, as Entrepreneur, CTO, and Solution Architect. From April 2022 onwards I have been associated with Quest Global as Technical Architect. Before that, I was working with UST Global, as Solution Architect I Cloud and Infrastructure defining solutions and architecting infrastructure for mobility applications on the AWS platform and maintaining Cloud Infrastructure as Code. Prior to that, I worked with Innoval Digital Solutions, as Chief Technology Officer managing the IT and Cloud Infrastructure Team, advising on technology decisions, engaging in software solution architecture, and implementing FOSS or alternative solutions to cut down costs. This was one of many other vital roles in the
organization. Being a shareholder, I am still continuing as Advisor to Cloud Computing. I have also been associated with Saturn System wares as Chief Technology Officer, Technical Director, and Co-Founder, Dar-Al-Fajr UAE as Production Supervisor – National Pink Pages, and Damithan Computers UAE as System Engineer. Further more, I also have entrepreneurial experience with Digitelnet.
My core competencies are IT Strategy and Planning, IT Operations & Governance, Infrastructure Management, Solution Architecture, Service Delivery Management, Client/Stakeholder Engagement, Data Centre Operations, Team Building, and Leadership.
As an IT leader, what are the skills that you look for in fresh candidates?
I believe the skills of different professionals depend on evolving trends. However, I look for candidates with great learning acumen and keenness, and depth of perception, discernment, especially in practical matters. They must have a continuous upskilling attitude and are enthusiastic about developing new skills and knowledge, while also reinforcing what has been previously learned. They should also have an effective product or environment certifications that suit the organizational goals.
Tell us about your leadership approach.
I believe in effectively communicating with my team, sharing my vision, and building relationships which enables me to be better equipped to lead my teams and organizations to success. I invest a lot of time in mentoring my team nurturing them, and encouraging them to learn, grow and upskill. This empowers them not only to perform better in their role but progress further in their career. Apart from that, I try and brainstorm challenges to find agile solutions, and build constructive code reviews to maintain highquality code and spread knowledge amongst team members. I also practice giving feedback regularly to motivate my team. Motivated employees are not only more productive but are also much happier and more engaged.
What has been your success mantra? Also, what is the motivation that fuels your daily routine?
I believe in cruising on the bleeding edge and getting trained in anything that can be utilized and implemented for reducing the workload of any team. Continuous skillup with learning and trying out new technologies and solutions motivates me every day.
What advice would you give to budding industry leaders?
I would advise budding industry leaders to share, guide, and mentor their teams. It is because of my mentees that I could build my career only they pushed me to learn and guide them.
