Kritarth Raja
MD
Kritarth Raja, Managing Director of AIC Infrastructures Pvt Ltd, has also been successful in introducing Runway pavement preservation and restoration solutions from Rayners and drainage solutions from Gatic in India. He has vast extensive experience in both public and private organizations. With a desire to work for airports and serve the country, Kritarth decided to manoeuvre the organization from the pavement of highways to the runways. CEO Insights is engaged in discussion with Kritarth Raja, who further elaborates on his journey and AIC Infrastructure services.
Kindly throw some light on the various construction and infrastructure services that your company offers, highlighting on your flagship service. Also, how do you ensure to maintain utmost trust and transparency while providing these services?
AICPL has transformed from a pavement construction company to an aviation infrastructure company. Our infrastructure business focuses on airport projects including airfield pavements, aircraft loading bridges, ground aerodrome lighting and other aviation infrastructure.
I was fortunate to implement new technology to preserve the surface of the runway called "AGSG," which has never been introduced in India and has been very well known and successful in the US. I have
approached and collaborated with the US counterpart to implement this technology in the country, and with sincere efforts, I have succeeded in launching this innovative technology in India.
With the interest of aviation infrastructures, I have established a relationship with Gatic and the UK-based Alumasc Group to supply heavy duty below ground access solutions and high capacity surface drainage solutions for airports, ports and other infrastructure projects. We are also the sole representatives of GATIC, India, Nepal and Bangladesh providing aircraft loading gas inspection covers. Within this vertical, we also have a range of water drainage solutions.
How has your company's journey been so far, and what challenges did you encounter during this journey?
I would quickly like to alter the question by replacing the word challenge with opportunity. We started our journey with the name Asphalt India corporation, and today, we are known as AIC Infrastructures Pvt Ltd. AICPL is our chosen identity. I started the aviation infrastructure division of Asphalt India Corporation, which was later incorporated as AIC Infrastructures Pvt Ltd (AICPL) and now AICPL is known as Aviation Infrastructure Company.
After successfully executing and delivering the challenging projects of airports and building the capabilities in the sector, AICPL started venturing out from one Airport Infra construction to many. Over the years working in the industry, there were many roadblocks and speed breakers where the company has either taken a detour or have surpassed the one with the best available option. That doesn't mean that our road was full of sunshine and roses.

Kindly throw some light on your professional background and experience that helps in moulding strategic business modules for your company?
I had to start early in life due to the circumstances. While pursuing my education, I started my career by testing construction materials. I have a diploma in civil engineering and have an experience of more than 20 years in Infrastructure development. The first breakthrough was the successful completion of Mumbai-Nashik Highway, a 25 km road project in the year 1998-1999 with bare minimum resources.
Enlighten us on the professional experiences & expertise of your team of experts at AIC Infrastructure Pvt Ltd?
AICPL has a strong team of professionals who have rendered their 110 percent commitment to getting the projects to fruition. We have Architects, Civil & Structural Engineers, Mechanical & Electrical Engineers, Project Managers and Quantity Surveyors who are domain specialists and who can perform any role regardless of their specialization.
The most unforgettable and greatest accomplishment for me was the successful completion of the runway work at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport Mumbai – MIAL, which came off well with flying colours.
What is the future roadmap set for your company? How are you updating yourself with the latest technologies/ trends to make your company reach its future goals?
The phenomenal rise in air travel has caused significant congestion at airports in major cities, needing additional facilities for fast-growing short-haul domestic markets. Over the years, AICPL has gained rich experience in constructing runways and structural design of airfield pavement.
Our goal for future growth will be to introduce more advanced innovative technologies for the design of airport runways, taxiways, etc. and to improve vital technological innovation concepts for the development of materials technology, design procedures, quantity surveying, facility management, services, structural analysis and design.
