The boost in the e-commerce space as well as in the manufacturing sector has motivated many to start their own private business as well as manufacturing units, which have given a significant boost to the business consulting sector. However, in terms of practice, the business advisory and consulting sector in the country are still following the traditional practices and have a long way to go. Seeing a gap in the market in terms of devising strategies for dispute resolution as well as business-enabling solution, Amit Manchanda founded his Business advisory and consulting firm, Ab Initio India. The firm provides a customized business solution as well as consultations regarding business strategy, fundraising, litigation services, corporate finance, mergers & acquisitions, sustainability, and so on. His diligent efforts have helped the firm exhibit an ever-growing trajectory.

In an exclusive interview with CEO Insights, Amit shares his earlier experience, what makes Ab Initio unique as compared to its peers, and much more.

Shed some light on your professional background and experience. What inspired you to take up the role of Managing Partner at Ab Initio and what drives you today?
I have an extensive experience of around 21 years in diverse industries such as Finance, NBFC, Asset Recovery companies, the liquor industry, and so on. Having worked as the Legal Head and Company Secretary in Radico Khaitan, one of India's leading liquor manufacturers and distributors, for about 14 years, I have vast experience in Corporate Structuring, Contract Management, Project Financing, and Refinancing, Dispute Resolution, and so on.

Coming to my inspiration behind
taking up the role of Managing Partner at Ab Initio, after years of working in corporate and gaining experience in multiple fields, I wanted to set up my firm as I felt a gap in the market in terms of devising strategies for dispute resolution and giving business-enabling solution to the industry. Uncertainty in certain areas of law, policy, and regulation are some of the major issues that are still sprawling over the industry. Therefore, I started my firm in 2019. Helping clients with solutions in this ecosystem is not only intellectually stimulating but also something that drives me to be creative in evolving situations. Clients come to us because of our ability to find an innovative solutions within minimal time and cost.

Define Ab Initio India as an organization and its position in the market? What is the unique proposition that your organization offers to its clients?
Ab Initio is an ever-growing firm with a committed team, trained to provide customized solutions to clients. We don't believe in a pedantic approach but rather believe in giving pragmatic and realistic solutions. We are fully aware of the ground realities as well as the regulatory environment in the court practices, there fore, any solution that we purpose to our client is a combination of our commercial acumen and Legal and regulatory knowledge. Our precise understanding of both the business as well as the legal nuances involved helps us stay ahead of the curve which is also our USP.

What are some of the major challenges you have experienced in your journey so far and what did you learn from them? What are the changes in market behavior that you anticipate, and what are the opportunities that you foresee?
The whole journey hasn't been without its share of challenges. One of the major challenges was working in a virtual mode during the pandemic times. The pandemic has taught us to work as a team
irrespective of our geographical locations. It taught us how to offer services through virtual mode as effectively as possible without compromising on quality.

In terms of future opportunities, we see a lot of new entrepreneurs starting new ventures which will provide immense opportunities to service the Startups.

As the breeding ground of your company, how has been Delhi favoring you so far in your operations? Any advice would you give to the budding entrepreneurs in the same industry?
Delhi is undoubtedly a great place to start any new venture as it is the political capital as well as the working and residing place for many people from diverse ethnicity, which makes it culturally very different from other states. Here networking is also equally important. You need to maintain a personal relationship with your client to understand the kind of solution he/ she is expecting from you. Thus, undoubtedly, we are uniquely placed as our head office is in Delhi and we understand the geography and culture very well.

The advice I would like to give to budding entrepreneurs is to have the four key elements such as dream, dedication, sincerity, and perseverance in them before starting any new venture as these key elements are required for any person to succeed.
