What factors influenced your decision to become an entrepreneur? How has your journey been so far?
My mission is to help every member of my team realize his or her maximum potential so that they can effectively add to the growth & prosperity of our business
While completing my masters degree in Australia, I worked in a contact center where I discovered certain management errors. In response, I developed my contact center, which eventually employed 600 people from four different nations. However, our profits were at risk because of the slow months, especially December and January. With our combined experience in sales and customer service, we decided to launch a white label comparison business in Australia as an alternative to conventional contact centers. Everything we discovered while working in the contact center was put to use as we built a digital enterprise with easily available tools. By converting our experience into technology, we were able to escape the people game and establish a more stable, lucrative business.
How would you define CIMET as an organization and its current position in the market?
We have achieved significant success with our white label comparison website, having recently secured $26.6 million in funding from a leading Australian company named I select. Our platform powers the majority of comparison websites in Australia, but the real key to our success is our tech team based in India. By leveraging their expertise and developing inhouse solutions, we're able to operate at a much lower cost compared to doing the same work in Australia. This enables us to offer a more cost effective solution to our customers while maintaining profitability. Having a co-founder run our show in
India also allows us to effectively manage operations across both countries and capitalize on the strengths of both.
Tell us about your leadership approach, and the guidelines or methodologies you follow to lead your team.
My strategy of leadership is simple yet effective: I let my team members focus on their strengths. Instead of micromanaging, I put my faith in my team members in getting the work completed. If someone is unable to move forward or is struggling with a challenge, I will offer assistance, direction, and support. My mission is to help every member of my team realize his or her maximum potential so that they can effectively add to the growth and prosperity of our business.
I think it's important for people to feel like their opinions matter, which is why I try my best to foster a collaborative and creative work environment. Building an atmosphere that fosters confidence and responsibility amongst employees is key to achieving the highest performance for our team and propelling the business forward.
In light of your strong experience within the industry, what advice would you give to budding leaders
As a leader, it's important to give yourself time to allow your ideas to flourish, especially when you're trying to make a significant change in a particular domain. Change doesn't happen over night, and it's important to recognize that. It's essential to stay persistent and keep pushing your ideas out into the market, even if they don't gain traction immediately. People need time to get used to new concepts before they can fully buy into them. As such, leaders need to be patient and give their ideas time to resonate with the market. Ultimately, this patience and persistence can pay off, leading to greater success in the long run.
