What has been the success mantra that helped you achieve your current position?
It is important for HR (us) to understand that when employees are empowered, not only do they feel motivated but also more confident because they have the space to make choices. Account
able for the people and responsible for business impact, HR must make sure that the people to business linkages are strong. Yes, HR has many roles to play when it comes to the current complex corporate landscape. Even so, we are missing the biggest role that HR needs to play empowering employees and shifting the onus onto them. Every individual wants to be in control of factors that matter to them at work, ranging from work profile to rewards or pay. This is driven by a shift in mindset as well as organizational culture. A culture that makes employees connect to the business goals and the key roles they play can help them to take charge.

Tell us about your formula for esta blishing a balance between the two and how do you tackle challenges when the scenario turns otherwise?
The question we should be asking is How do you positively balance between an organization’s growth targets and employees’ needs? This question becomes even more critical as organizations wade through a fast paced High stakes world, and their employees well being might not always be top of mind.

For me, the right balance between an employer and employee’s needs is when an organization can achieve
significant growth even as it pushes the barrier on corporate sustainability, i.e., how one engages with employees and drives them to be better professionals and individuals. It’s derived through building a culture led by high performance but that, at the same time, encourages diversity of talent and approaches. As in the long term, educating and involving employees about their workplace, how their roles fit into the business growth track and the opportunities for innovation and developing new skills and rewarding them actually helps the organization improve its performance financial, operational, or people specific.

What is your future roadmap, and how are you gearing for it?
Balancing hi tech with hi touch to achieve high performance in the changing spectrum of work. The traditional work paradigm is fast changing owing to increased consumerization, changing employee expectations and technology infiltration in work lives. The way people look at work is shifting, stemming from the values such as transparency, collaboration, flexibility, meaning and purpose, non-hierarchy, and so on; I wish to gain a competitive edge by attracting and engaging top talent, must acknowledge and assimilate these shifts in the work ethos. This means looking at talent with a new lens.
