Chaitanya Dawer
Director
In a recent interaction with CEO Insights, Chaitanya Dawer shared more about his professional career and the success saga of Mahaluxmi Processing House. Here’s the highlight from the same.
Tell us about your professional background and the journey with Mahaluxmi Processing House so far.
Our family has been in the textile business for the last 60 years and that is the reason I was always interested to join my family business and take it forward. After completing my bachelor’s in Fibre and Textile Processing, I joined the business in the year 2010 and built the business three times in four years by setting up new plants. To further my business skills, I did my MBA from the University of Cambridge in the year 2014 and after that, we increased our market share, expanded our production capacities, added new products, and ventured into exports.
My passion is to grow the business by achieving the balance between growth and sustainability so that we can reduce the impact on the environment.
Define Mahaluxmi Processing House as an organization and its
position in the industry? What is its USP?

The fashion world has come a long way since my father started the yarn dyeing business, today the textile industry is all about speed, accuracy, and efficiency given the requirements of fast fashion all around the world.
Being a customer-centric company, we listen to our customer’s every need and strive to fulfill their demands and we maintain one of the shortest turnaround times in the industry which gives us an edge in the market.
Why did you choose Punjab to be the breeding ground for your company?

How do you maintain the perfect balance between your personal and professional life? What is your success mantra?
Over the years of working experience, I have come to understand more about my working style and my pace which is sticking to basics and avoiding taking too much on a plate. Spending time with my son is the biggest stress buster for me and that is why I strongly believe that it is very important to take out some time for your self as well as for your family.
My fellowship of certain guidelines is my success mantra that has helped me in my career so far and the guidelines are Nothing beats hard work, you get what are you focused on, if you can measure it, you can improve it, and No matter how hard it gets never give up.

What are the changes in market behavior that you anticipate in the future and what are the opportunities that you foresee?
The world is still struggling to recover from the disruptive supplychain management caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and while the textile industry was finding its way around these challenges, the Ukraine crisis impacted the supply of raw materials and we are witnessing never seen before increases in raw material prices for the textile industry. Being lean, cost-effective, nimble, and resourceful is the need of the hour to survive the current crisis.
Going forward, we are looking to upgrade our knowledge base and our ability to add more and more products that cater to the needs of our customers as they look for alternatives to replace the traditional products given the demands of the market.
As a successful entrepreneur and business leader, what advice would you give to the budding entrepreneurs?
Doing hard work and staying focused is the advice I would like to convey to all the budding entrepreneurs because I believe that hard work and focus are the two things that every entrepreneur needs to have to be successful, no matter what the world around has to say, one needs to be focused on achieving their goals. Being a successful entrepreneur requires you to go through the grunt work and you must look at every difficulty as a challenge that can be solved.
