Despite the challenges that it faces, be it the floods, the pandemic, or the economic turbulence that comes along, it has always re-emerged and come out stronger than before. Mumbai’s populous real estate industry is well known for its cutthroat competition. Hence, ‘creating-a-niche’ is a possible scenario only for real estate companies that walk the talk and provide an overwhelming experience throughout the project while ensuring the customers’ dreams come true. This precisely has been how the Romell Group made a significant mark in the ever-evolving iconic cityscape of Mumbai over the past two decades blending cutting-edge technologies and exemplary designs with sheer determination. In an exclusive interview with CEO insights, Domnic talks about his professional journey and the company’s endeavors.

Tell us about the beginning of your journey in the real estate industry. What drives you today as an entrepreneur?
Mumbai is a city that never fails to enchant and mesmerize you with its old-world charm blending in seamlessly with the high-rise structures and the constant buzzing energy, be it day or night! People from our country’s nooks and corners come here to create a living with dreams in their minds and hope in their hearts. They hope to find a small corner that they can call theirs in this vast city, and well, Mumbai always accepts them with open arms! This was our inspiration when I began our journey with my brother Jude Romell with our initial projects in the western suburbs. The level of satisfaction is truly unmatched when we create our customers’ dream homes into reality, especially the middle-income groups for whom owning a home in this beautiful city is a dream that they work so hard towards fulfilling. This is what drives and inspires us every day. No matter how many projects and homes we deliver, the feeling of euphoria that surrounds us when a customer takes possession of their home is always as good as the first time.

How would you define Romell Group as an organization? What strategies do you follow to maintain the two-decades old reputation of the firm?
Our strategy is very simple and solid. We truly believe that the force behind the company is its employees, and for us, we are not a company with employees; instead,
we are a family working together day after day to turn another family’s dream into reality. Additionally, the brand shares an open door policy, and we have strong ethics in all our dealings.

We continue the old practices that have helped us deliver, and as we continue to move forward, new technologies have been added to the already set processes, which has helped us adapt better to the current times. Our vision of ‘Creating Memories’ extends from our promoters to our customers, ensuring that we are here to help families create memories they will cherish for a lifetime.

Tell us about the different technologies your company uses to deliver unique designs and innovative spaces to your clients?
We are using the latest systems & technologies that help us to deliver quality homes on time. The practices in Construction and Engineering include Wall Form Technology, BIM, Composite Structures, Transfer Plates, & Girdles, etc.; we have also deployed ERP for our CRM Team and Sell.do for our Sales and Presales Team.

Romell was one of the few groups to start with Water Conservation right from our very first projects in Parle and Goregaon, even when we were not incentivized to do it. We have also built the first ‘Indian Green Building Council Platinum Rated Building’ in Mumbai’s western suburbs through our project Romell Aether, which delivered luxurious homes

while taking utmost care of the environment. We are also on the path to completely being a paperless organization since it is the need of the hour. These small changes will help us take care of Mother Earth, our first home.

As the Director of Romell Group, how do you apply your strong professional experience in this domain to take the company one step ahead of its competitors?
At Romell Group, we believe in working towards one vision and goal and blending the senior staff with the new talent that we hire that helps create new experiences and give new solutions to issues. It is having the best of both worlds.

Apart from this, we stick with a few principles: Trust, Commitment to timely delivery, and Transparency with the customers and stakeholders. Additionally, we also have industry veterans working with
us in our inhouse teams of Engineering, Architecture, Finance, Legal, Marketing, and others.

In your professional journey so far, which are the milestones that bestowed you with utmost satisfaction?
It was very encouraging to see large corporations allowing us to prove ourselves amidst the cut throat competition in our journey. Delivering to L&T and their trust bestowed on us numerous times and living up to it every time, the commercial landmark ‘Oracle’ located at Goregaon East gave us utmost satisfaction as a group. Additionally, we are one of the few A-rated developers in Mumbai, which is also a matter of pride, which helps us give you an ‘address of pride.’

What changes in the market behavior do you anticipate, and what opportunities do you foresee? What is the road map that you have planned for Romell Group?
Today, the customers have all the information they need at the tap of a screen or a call away; this means that they are leaning onto Ready-to-move-in spaces while being mindful of the delivery time, quality and being more aware and evolved. This also gives us a chance to understand the customer better and tailor-make spaces for them. Apart from this, our core is on-time delivery, accountability, trust, and transparency. We want to make the journey from finding their dream home to actually residing it as seamless as possible. As a team in totality, we have shared our timelines all across all departments. We are working as one autonomous body to deliver on time with good finishing and uncompromised quality.

What valuable advice would you give to the upcoming leaders of the Real Estate Industry?
The advice would be to ‘walk the talk.’ There is no easier way to build customer relationships than delivering your promises.
