Dr Faiz Mohammed : Revolutionizing Radiology Through Fetal Medicine, Cardiac Imaging And Musculoskeletal Interventions

Dr Faiz Mohammed
Head - Radiology
He honed his craft across various parts of India before moving to the UAE, where he has been practicing for over a decade. Driven by a passion for pushing boundaries in his field, Dr Faiz took study breaks to specialize in fetal medicine, musculo skeletal imaging, and cardiac MRI. His training led him to London, where he earned accreditation from the Fetal Medicine Foundation UK, and to Cambridge, where he refined his expertise in cardiac MRI.
Engaging in an immersive interaction with CEO Insights magazine, Dr Faiz shares his strategies, leadership guidelines, and much more. Let's read about it.
How do you utilize your experiences in your current role at Aster Medical Imaging?
My varied experiences in the clinical, administrative, and strategic domains are invaluable in my current position at Aster Medical Imaging. My leadership style has been influenced by my curiosity about the workings of the larger healthcare system, even though my areas of expertise are musculoskeletal imaging, cardiac MRI, and fetal medicine.
I work closely with quality managers, marketing teams, and clinicians to guarantee smooth departmental coordination and expedite patient care. I can approach leadership with a holistic mindset because of my practical experience in operational and quality roles in healthcare.
What are the latest AI-driven technologies or equipment you have introduced to enhance the patient care experience?
As the person in charge of quality control, academic coordination, and leadership in five countries, namely the United
Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, I have been actively involved in incorporating digital transformation and AI-driven technologies to improve patient care. We took a case based, evidence-based approach to this, not merely employing platitudes like 'AI and digitalization', but putting these innovations into practice and evaluating the results.
In one major project, AI was used to optimize patient care procedures, guaranteeing accuracy and efficiency. We deployed cutting-edge AI technologies to improve clinical decision-making, expedite processes, and monitor patient safety. As evidenced by their feedback, patient satisfaction skyrocketed to 100 percent, and all quality control KPIs continuously hit 100 percent. The outcomes were astounding.
The organization's revenue more than doubled as a result of this change, which also improved care standards and had major financial benefits. Esteemed organizations such as the Department of Health (DOH) in Abu Dhabi and SEHA (Abu Dhabi Health Services) took notice of these accomplishments and I also received an invitation from the British Medical Journal (BMJ) to present this as a case study.
How do you implement and monitor radiation safety measures to protect patients and staff?
I use AI-driven technologies in conjunction with stringent protocols to provide the best possible protection for patients and employees. We make use of cutting-edge CT scanners with AI-based algorithms that precisely regulate the radiation dosage, reducing exposure while preserving image quality. These technologies guarantee that patients receive the least amount of radiation required for a precise diagnosis by precisely calculating the radiation dose needed.
We also adhere to strict radiation safety regulations, which include routine equipment calibration and maintenance to guarantee consistent performance. Staff members are required to wear personal protective equipment, such as thyroid shields and lead aprons, and we offer thorough training on radiation safety procedures.
We use dosimeters, which track and record radiation doses in real-time, for both patients and staff to monitor exposure levels. This data is examined on a
