What drives you today as one of the leading ophthalmologists in the country?
Being trained in paediatric ophthalmology, my services are dedicated to children. I was the sixth
person in India to get trained in this particular branch and probably the second in our state, Maharashtra. So, the uniqueness of my services doesn't limit to the children of our area, but I have also devoted my life to training the junior doctors in this particular segment.
There are few short term and long term courses via which these doctors are trained, so that, they can go to their respective areas and care for the children all over India. My passion and uniqueness to offer eye care services of high quality and standards for children right from birth to 15 years, drives me today as an ophthalmologist.
Going forward, what are the changes in healthcare trends that you anticipate, and what are the opportunities that you foresee to serve people better as a leader?
Today, every nook and corner of India is getting a highspeed broadband internet connection. So now, with apt internet connectivity, we can reach more and more people. And, we have already started doing so through our vision centres, which are manned by exclusively trained technicians. Through internet connectivity, we can examine and interact with our patients remotely. Adopting advanced technologies, we are trying to reach more people and we have already started working on that. Simultaneously we are engaged in development of community partners by joining hands with socially active and well accepted groups who can extend their strength to provide our services to patients from micro interior of rural area. Since last year, we have started in three regional centers to reach more and more people in smaller towns. That's the main change that you want to see due to rapid technological advancements currently happening, along with various other changes, such as the patients getting better and quicker results.
