Could you share some of the most memorable experiences from St. Stephen's College?
St. Stephen's College was undeniably a bright spot in my career journey. The institute was exceptionally well-organized, with excellent classrooms and facilities that fostered a conducive learning environment. One of the standout features was the library, which was valuable for my master's studies. We had access to advanced books, which greatly supported our academic endeavors.
Another fond memory is the cafeteria, reputed to be one of the best on the entire Delhi University campus. As a young student, the cafeteria's ambiance and the atmosphere we shared there were as memorable as the classes themselves. The vibrant and intellectual student community played a significant role in shaping me as an individual. The interactions and friendships with such smart and motivated peers collectively left a lasting impact on my professional development.
How would you describe your leadership approach and guiding style?
My leadership style is predominantly democratic, with a strong emphasis on coaching. I believe in nurturing the team and bringing out their best. In senior roles such as leading Health-Trail, team members already possess the necessary skills, so my focus is on inspiring them to deliver their peak performance. I advocate for participative management, valuing input from all team members to make well-informed decisions. While the final decision rests with me, it is a collaborative process aimed at achieving the best outcomes.
Give a brief on your brainchild, Health- Trail. What are the technology trends in the industry that Health-Trail operates?
Health-Trail offers comprehensive healthcare services, including information on hospitals, clinics, and doctors, a symptom checker for indicative diagnoses, an emergency services locator for ambulances, blood banks, and 24-hour pharmacies.
We promote healthier lifestyles through nutrition and health management tips. Also, developing an advanced Personal Health Record (PHR) system for reliable access to medical histories. Our mobile app ensures seamless access to these services.
In the health sector, the core technology revolves around mobile apps. The internet and smart mobile applications have enabled us to make health records readily accessible to individuals. Our solution ensures the portability of health records across different healthcare providers by leveraging cloud-based technologies, web-centric applications, data centers, and mobile connectivity. Another critical aspect is scalability.
As our product gains traction and usage scales to thousands or even millions of users, the solution must be robust and scalable. We also aim to integrate AI and ML technologies to analyze health data, providing predictive insights and recommendations. These advancements are transforming our approach, making healthcare more accessible and personalized.
What have you envisioned for the next five years?
At this stage in my career, I am committed to leveraging my experience to give back to the community. Currently, I am part of the International School of Management Excellence (ISME) in Bengaluru, where I teach a few courses and contribute to their training and consulting efforts. This role complements my leadership at Health-Trail portal.

What advice would you give to budding leaders entering the domain of startups?
My advice to young entrepreneurs and innovators is to have an open mind towards technology changes. It’s crucial not to be fixated on one technology or one solution. The process of innovation is inherently iterative. You must bring your business idea to life, develop it, and continuously refine it based on market demands. Evolution is key; you won't achieve the perfect product in one go. Patience and persistence are essential as you make ongoing modifications to your product or service until it meets market needs.
Additionally, leveraging your team is vital. No one person, regardless of their brilliance, can possess all the knowledge. The rapid expansion of information means that valuable insights can come from any team member. Leaders should avoid autocracy and instead foster a culture of collaboration. The best ideas often come from unexpected sources, like a senior programmer or an analyst deeply involved in the details of the project.
Successful leadership involves capturing and integrating these diverse perspectives. Recognize that intelligence and innovative thinking can come from anyone within your organization. By valuing and utilizing the collective knowledge and creativity of your team, you can drive your venture towards greater success.
