Founder & CEO

We now live in a world of rapid change, innovation and entrepreneur ship therefore, it is critical not just to stay up-to-date, but have a plan or strategy in place to capitalize on the dynamic technologies and improvement opportunities. Since numerous aspects could cause issues or provide opportunities for a firm, it is critical for a management consulting partner to understand the business of their client and take advantage of the right management & operational strategy. In such cases, a consultative approach plays an important role in improving operations and efficiency as well as identifying, addressing, and overcoming impediments to attaining a company's goals.

To empower businesses towards developing capabilities that will help them stay ahead of the curve and align with the future of competencies, Dr. Sunil Singh founded MindStream Consulting in 2020. As organizations venture into uncharted territory with the evolving business models, Sunil is on a mission to navigate them through the challenges as well as opportunities. In an exclusive interview with CEO Insights, Dr. Sunil spoke about his transformation from professional to the entrepreneurial journey.

What is the inception story of MindStream Consulting?
Throughout my career in human resources, I have seen numerous opportunities in the consulting market. In addition, while studying for my PhD, I did a lot of freelance consulting as well. I worked on HR bench marking for the IT industry at the time, as well as on the complete design of literacy development and communication assessment for several companies. These were some of the early motivators, as well as exposure to the idea of creating my own consulting firm. Also, the term MindStream Consulting occurred to me while I
was working at Sasken Communication, where I was running an employee engagement campaign called Mandara. And if we interpret that exactly, it translates into Mindstream, and that's the first time I thought to myself, I'll do some thing and call it Mindstream. I registered the domain name in 2007. Though it was always there, it took me 14 years due to a variety of reasons to launch my venture. However, before the pandemic in 2020, I had a life changing encounter. I survived a brain hemorrhage and two neurosurgeries, and it was during this period that I thought when, if not now? During my 45-day hospitalization in the ICU, I gained a little more clarity. And in August 2020, I established MindStream Consulting.

MindStream Consulting's tagline is that we simplify the complex and help businesses envision the unknown

Tell us about the unique services you provide to your customers.
When I look at my MindStream Consulting, I realize it's just the beginning. When I look at management consulting, I believe that in around five to seven years, we will be a full service consulting

firm that will not only focus on the sectors which I came from, but will also have new verticals under our portfolio. This will include IT consulting, early marketing, finance, and supply chain to name a few. The way I see it, it will be something that allows organizations to grow and simplify the means to grow. MindStream Consulting's tagline is that we simplify the complex and help businesses envision the unknown. We also help organizations traverse the uncharted. Essentially, these three variables represent the issues that organizations are experienceing today they are venturing into unch
arted territory as business models evolve. They have no idea how the hybrid functions and related procedures will eventually turn out and we assist them in working on those areas.

How do you intend to use your abilities to propel MindStream Consulting to new heights? What are some of the most recent marketing/operational strategies?
I can't assume that what I learned from the past organizations will prepare me for the issues that are emerging in the business landscape. This is a new entrepre neurial adventure for me, and what I've learnt over the years is more about being flexible in the way I perceive myself, and the need to be open to an environment as every possible business model is changing. When I say that the same strategy worked for me in my previous company five years ago and might work again, I become a prisoner of the past. In just six months, we've had the opportunity to engage with a variety of businesses, each with a unique set of concerns to address. Hence, we continue to build strategies for our clients according to the current market scenario and the business requirements.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, what advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs in the same domain?
Even if the ideas are identical, there will be many others around with the same thoughts, so don't perceive that this is only your unique idea. The game will be owned by whoever implements it first. Another recommendation is to begin early the longer you wait, the more difficult it will be for you to commence, as there will be many others racing in the competition if you wait too long, you will fall behind, and others will win the competition.
