Khushboo Jain, Human Resource Director, Techspian(a technology consulting & IT solutions company)is a true exemplification of the same qualities and skillful tenor.

Let’s get to know her by reading the excerpts of the exclusive interview held between Khushboo and the CEOInsights Team.

What are the significant facets and achievements of your professional journey? How did you end up as a leader in the HR domain?
People have always intrigued me, and thus meeting different people, understanding their traits enriches with me a sense of satisfaction. But, it was during my degree pursuance in Psychology from Lady Shriram College, I decided to take up a career in HR, realizing I really do possess the strength to connect with people and help them. The constant change and the opportunity to learn new aspects were really important for me and what would be a better field than HR for this.

Talking about my professional experience, I hold 14+ years of experience working in different gamuts of HR, scaling up the employee strength from around 10 to 1200+, helping companies to streamline their HR processes, getting their teams in positive mindsets, and developing & mentoring people to shape their careers. While working with startups I learnt other functions too, but then I finally understood that while I can work well in other areas, people journey is what excites me.
Define Techspian and its position in the market? Highlight its competitiveness?
Techspian got incorporated with the intent of spreading the power of technology, and thus we carry a shared passion to learn more. We work with businesses as their technology partners to help them realize their business plans and provide end-to-end support for every stage of product development, starting from discovery to supporting live systems. Focusing on niche technology needs of today’s world like cloud, data science, automation and by building a highly efficient Centre of Excellence for these technologies, we keep challenging ourselves to deliver the best.

Today, I feel it’s a mere pleasure of seeing people Grow and the business benefiting from it is what Drives me

What differentiates us from the rest is our core values. Our fundamental core value is to evolve while adapting & improvising each day, and it is why, we have been successful in delivering more value to our clients in an efficient & optimized manner.

Briefly mention about the leadership fundamentals that have etched you to this level today. What’s your success mantra?
For me, I have come across times when things didn’t go right. It’s very important to understand that you can fail, and things may not always go the way you want but then not giving up is something I have learnt through my experiences. My Success Mantra is ‘Life is not all that fair but if you stay positive and determined things would happen the way you want it to be".

Also, being a constant learner and to learn best practices in this space, I finished my Executive Program in HR from IIM Lucknow which gave me the balance and an extra perspective of looking at things differently, which was needed. Today, I feel it’s the mere pleasure of seeing people grow and the business benefiting from it is what drives me.

As the HR-Director, how are you developing strategies to enhance service quality?
HR is a very dynamic function that constantly evolves and would continue to change. But, anytime & every time the most important asset for the organization will be its people. To make sure we are creating a people centric culture, we are focusing on their needs of developing skills, understanding their aspirations and then carving out a plan for our business growth.
And, at Techspian, our definition of success includes living by our CO-LED values of Constantly Evolve & Deliver, Ownership, Living up to the commitments, Empathy & Discipline in thoughts and actions. These values are our guide for all our interactions with employees customers partners and stake holders.

How has been your response to the challenges posed by the COVID affected market and the need for new strategies? How would you describe your role in tackling those challenges?
In two words my response would be Adapt ability and Positivity. Times have changed, and now you can’t continue to work on transactional aspects, and that’s where our HR function has played an important role. Adapting to the new ways of working, revisiting the policies and other alignment in terms of seamless remote working, including new hires, we managed to onboard 100+ employees with all kinds of technology profiles which also includes leadership roles. The fact that we retained our customers as well as our employees while working remotely is very satisfactory. We also took some exceptional steps to ensure our people’s well being is taken care of with utmost seriousness.

Going forward, what are the changes in market behaviour that you see and what are the opportunities that you foresee as a leader?
Businesses have spent much of the past year and a half scrambling to adapt to extraordinary circumstances. I think, 2022 will be the year of transition. During the COVID-19 crisis, one area that has seen tremendous growth is digitization, meaning everything from online customer service to remote working to supplychain reinvention to the use of ArtificialIntelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to improve operations. This growth has been even faster in developing economies like India. Now, this is the new normal and the change is going to be sustained. For everyone, there will be new opportunities in IT sector and an urgent need to invest in capability building. Also, we would be able to tap markets which were not explored previously in terms of finding right talent and developing business and penetrating our footprints in Tier-II cities and evolve ourselves as employer of the choice there.
