Manish Ranjan

Co-Founder & CEO

Leveraging the latest technologies to make clinical advancements available, affordable, and accessible to people from all walks of life is a revolution that this epoch really calls for. The leader addressing this need-of-the-hour revolution is Manish Ranjan, Co-Founder & CEO of NanoHealth. This initiative is solving one of the largest health problems of the 21st century Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) that account for the highest deaths and disabilities across the world.

Manish is predominantly engaged in transforming the reactive and fragmented health systems into a proactive, coordinated and continuous one. Through his brainchild NanoHealth, Manish advocates the need for patient experience-centric healthcare and has effectively aligned health providers like doctors, labs and pharmacies towards the common goal. All this is to ensure that sturdy and seamless modern-day healthcare facilities are available timely at patient's convenience.

With his father a doctor, Manish witnessed the existing gaps between patients and various stakeholders firsthand. The gaps were clear, especially when treatment has to continue over a long time, mostly seen in consultations and management of long-term diseases like diabetes and hypertension. He felt the compulsiveness to design a unique quintessential platform with patient's health improvement as its top priority NanoHealth. As an impressive technological platform, NanoHealth ensures that multiple stakeholders within the health ecosystem work together and blends the perfect amalgamation of operational and healthcare elements.

The team of CEO Insights joins Manish for a candid interaction.

Tell us about your journey so far at NanoHealth. What were the major challenges that you faced in your professional journey so far, and how did you overcome those to evolve as an entrepreneur?
The whole idea of preventive health continues to be very early across various strata of population, worse with people at the bottom of the pyramid. Even though the government is keen to take measures, they're in very early stages. Even though we started with focus on the bottom of the pyramid, witnessing the payer challenge, we pivoted our focus on Corporate
Health, where the problem is only slightly better. We worked on health data digitization and care coordination, which continues to be a huge problem worldwide, let alone in India.

In our innovative approach, we implemented the integration of advanced technologies imbued with human touch via our health coaches. Definitely, now that the whole understanding about care about health has improved significantly, it was easy to put-forth our ideas and discuss this particular aspect with other organizations.

Treading cordially across this arena, we are eager to highlight the importance of digital healthcare amenities that benefit the entire health ecosystem. During the covid pandemic, we could provide complete covid management solutions to people with significant effectiveness. We are excited about the NDHM (National Digital Health Mission), launched by the Prime Minister of India and the positive long-lasting impact it can have on the Indian health system. The impact and appreciation we are witnessing are extremely astounding.

Since saving lives has been a huge personal satisfaction for me, as we move forward unceasingly, the goal is to raise this impact from thousands to millions of people

Post-covid, is there any change in strategy that you have deployed? How are you adapting to the new trends and technologies to revolutionize your services and be at par with current healthcare domain standards?
By creating a platform that addresses health data digitization and care coordination, we could quickly configure our solution for COVID. Through effective and successful COVID management solutions, we are now able to provide apt healthcare facilities like symptom monitoring via video calls consultations in due time. As we scale, our effort is to put a strong digital footprint across many other preventable diseases by timely disease identification and management protocols.

NanoHealth isn't the standard doctor-appointment or tele consultation platform. Our seamlessly integrated technology platform gives the doctors a 360-degree view of the patient's health, which allows them to make accurate diagnosis at the right time on the patient's disease management journey. Our initiative coordinates with multiple stakeholders, nudging them to act proactively to manage patient's health, which is huge impact-wise. We have not rounded-out options for
customizations, hence are continuously improving our platform to make it more effective for improving patient's health.

What are some of the milestones that have given you utmost satisfaction, both as an individual and as a CEO?
For me, the biggest satisfaction is when I see people recovering. Till now, we have treated more than 1500 COVID cases across the country, without a single casualty. I am proud to say we have expanded our services to 60+ cities in India. This has given us enough encouragement to move forward unceasingly, and the next milestone is to echo this impact from lakhs to millions of people. Our mission is to prevent premature deaths, and this we are able to offer via NanoHealth, by assuring everyone we touch with better health. Continuously striving to achieve this feat and make an impact is my professional and personal goal.

On the corporate front, we have the likes of big companies like DE Shaw, ISB, Arcesium, and Natco coming-in and appointing us as their single point of contact for COVID related support and queries. We are able to extend this to all other health services now. Our active engagements have also seen a boost and we have on board 100,000 members.

What is the future roadmap of your company and what are the new implementations you wish to bring in NanoHealth?
We started with long-term diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, thyroid disorders, lipid disorders, PCOD, and so on. We intend to add more diseases to our platform and are concentrating on other communicable and acute diseases like dengue, which often require long-term coordination. For our future endeavors, we are prioritizing advancing horizontally to address more diseases and scaling to capture more stakeholders across different organizations. So, at present, our target is to touch at least 200,000 paying users by the end of this year and we are positive about it.

A wave of change in the thought process regarding effectiveness of treatment prescribed is needed. Future sure has big scopes and significant transformations in store, but not without health data digitization and better care coordination with focus on health outcomes. Ultimately, I would want to see the health service payments to be done based on the effectiveness of the treatment. I'm hoping to see all these changes in the next few years.
