Narinder Kamra
CEO & MD
Engaging with a team of CEO Insights for an exclusive interaction with Narinder Kamra shares the story of his journey through the lens of VDOIT.
Give us a brief detail about your educational and professional background. What inspired you to take up entrepreneur ship in Information Technology and Services?
I am an MCA graduate from Panjab University Chandigarh. I have worked in various organizations throughout my 22 years of experience in the IT industry. Some of the organizations that I worked at are HCL Tech, Bank of America, Apple, and Simplion(Now known as LIRIK).
My 11 years of US experience in the best Multi-Billion Dollar companies gave me significant learning in terms of the work culture. I identified the best working culture which fits in a Global Delivery Service Model, this is something I could not probably experiment with while working for other companies even at a high position. Hence, the idea of VDOIT was born that is V We the team DO are Completely committed, IT for Innovation in Technology.
We started in bootstrap model with ideas of a Product in Hospitality Industry but probably we were not ready with deep pockets to spend in
marketing, we parked our idea and decided to fulfill dreams of others who have better workable ideas and ended up in IT Services.
What were the initial challenges that taught you the basic lessons of entrepre neurship and helped you achieve success? how are you leveraging your experience in the business operations for VDOIT?
I spent most of my career in delivery and project management where tools and processes help you to do your job well, my challenge was to learn other critical operational aspects in sales, accounts and finance. In the initial years, we managed to avoid big losses and trained ourselves to turn the business into profitability. We invested a lot of personal money into business which impacted our overall finances, which made us come up with some ground rules that could turn the business around such as to the select the right partners, the ones who sync with your vision, 20-30% budget in R&D to stay ahead in the latest technologies, to run all Projects in Agile Model and avoid unwanted business travels and save the cost.
Our organization mantra is “Simplify the World" this means to give a delightful experience to our customers in their whole journey. We give our customers liberty to share the requirements in any form they want like an Epic or a user Story or an audio recording and our team does all business and technical mapping of those requirements to implement the specifi cations. We want to make the life of our customers "EASY and SIMPLE”, with this process we could attain the clients in US, Canada, UK, Singapore and much more.
What was the most difficult decision you had to make as a leader? What work culture does VDOIT follow?
2020 Jan/Feb was the time our 5 years of hard work was rewarded and every team member was excited for the next leap in business. Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 situation, we had to close the office and work from home until an indefinite time. That was the most difficult time as we were stepping towards success.
We have a unique hand-holding culture in our organization which means that when a team member is in trouble, then the entire team takes responsibility, holds their hand, and resolves the problem with pride. We believe in strong Value Chain Creation and with that, we provide technical solutions to our clients, making our team stronger in domain

How do you update yourself with the latest trends and technologies? What advice/suggestions do you have in mind for the budding entrepreneurs in the IT Industry?
I keep learning from my team and clients with active participation in Projects, I spend few hours on weekends to sync up with the latest trends and technologies.
The advice is to “Be very clear on what to give up and what not to”. If an idea that you implemented is not worth continuing, give it up. However, don’t give up on a good team and your passion. Health and Family are the most important part of life.
