In an exclusive interaction with us, Pravin K Agarwal, Director, SMC Insurance shares some of the interesting aspects about the company.

What type of insurance structures and policies do you build for the benefit of the clients and how do you ensure to get ROI for the clients?
At SMC Insurance, we believe that the customer is the king, and all relevant efforts should be made towards the customers’ trust and satisfaction. We have dedicated Toll Free services to all our customers for better connectivity with them. We address all their queries with utmost priority with predefined TAT for the support teams. We are totally determined on providing the after sale services.

We ensure the right product delivery by catering to the customers’ needs through smooth claim services. We
have launched several programs where in the customer can protect them selves against frauds.

The Director of a company what different roles have you been undertaking at SMC Insurance and what were the initial challenges involved?
I’ve been involved in various development processes like the internal control of the company, as well as the effective customer services. As a leader, I feel that it’s important to focus on the development of each and every employee within the company. This is not only targeted towards personal growth but also towards unifying their strengths to the overall organizational growth. I provide new ideas to the Sales and Marketing teams for expansion. My philosophy has always been to “earn people”. I believe that expansion is through people in every sphere including employees, customers, partners and professional associates.

Managing various levels, linear and vertical, comes with its own set of challenges. There are diversified roles that require special attention and bringing synergy in the teams to move them towards the common objective has been the major challenge. On the consumer front, most of the work involved is aiming towards gaining the customer’s trust. This was only possible by targeting maximum customer satisfaction through the products and services.

Teamwork is the essence of SMC Insurance, and every person perfectly contributes towards the unified goal. As the Director, I welcome new ideas by my employees that may benefit the organization on a larger perspective. The employees are the assets of any organization, and we all focus on team synergies for the alignment of the vision and mission.

How do you manage risk and uncertainty in general? How are those levels and expectations communicated across the
organization?
The insurance industry has always been prone to multiple risks and the number has been ever increasing. We, as an organization, take these risks into account and prepare effective measures to mitigate the same. Identifying the risk and the risk level is the primary stage. Then comes communicating it across the organization through policies and passing on the vision to help mitigate them.

Give us brief details about your educational and professional background. Also, how are you leveraging the best of these elements across Your Company’s operations through your experience?
I feel I am a very down to Earth person and this quality of mine has helped me to take up the career challenges and deal with them patiently. I was an all rounder student and graduated at the top of my batch at Agra University. My experience in the Insurance Broking industry has been of more than a decade now.I was the Marketing Director at the company where I worked previously, Skyline Financial Services Pvt. Ltd (SEBI category 1 Registrar and Share Transfer Agent), which had over 200 corporate clients.

My overall experience in the Insurance and Financial industry has helped SMC Insurance to develop several IT and operational controls which are new across the entire industry. SMC has introduced many new initiatives and business models in the Insurance Industry, thus serving as a benchmark for the entire industry.
