Prerna Dhand

Managing Director

Apart from playing a significant role in developing positive business culture and improving employee engagement as well as productivity, the HR function also ensures employee wellness and personal development programs. When Prerna Dhand entered the HR segment, HR was a modern concept and far away from the uniqueness it encompasses today. Verticals like performance evaluations and L&D were still a grey area for a lot of organizations, and all these gaps gradually coxswained the inception of Human Connections. Owing to her ability to relate with people & policies across all hierarchical levels in the organization and bring-out transformation in businesses has become the major strength of the Human Connections team.

Prerna has upsurged as a prolific stalwart in the HR domain owing to her rich experience in HR & Business planning, designing & implementing, understanding the employee-employer segment, creating programs for an engaged workforce, developing processes/policies, analysis of training needs, developing programs, implementing the performance management & transforming the organizations, and so on. Currently positioned as the Managing Director of the Human Connections, Prerna is guiding Human Connections to offer end-to-end and pragmatic solutions to complex HR Challenges, tailored as per the client’s businesses.

Below is an excerpt of Prerna’s interaction with CEO Insights.

What is the impact you have been making in your current role? What would you say is the uniqueness in your style of leadership?
Though I have always been working as a catalyst, now, when I am leading my organization, I feel like nurturing a lot of talent. In my position, I have got the responsibility of grooming a lot of HRs under me. I guide the budding talents to blossom into prolific HR professionals, and I am quite proud of the efforts that I put-in. Now, I can see the result of my contribution in guiding these young enthusiasts
seamlessly and molding them into successful professionals. I owe it to my unperturbed dedication to my current role. Rather than following a dominating or autocratic leadership style, my leadership is positive and synergetic, where I encourage the young talents to grow and learn along with me.

We Incorporate A Sense Of Belongingness Amongst The Freshers That Enable Them To Be Flexible, Do Well And Come Up With Novel Ideas

Define Human Connections as an organization and its products/service portfolio that keep it afloat in the industry.
An innovative HR services platform, Human Connections believes in nurturing fresh talent. We are currently employing a lot of freshers, including a majority of females to let the industry know our support for women empowerment; that’s where our USP lies! We incorporate a sense of belongingness amongst the freshers that enable them to be flexible, do well and come-up with novel ideas. So, we are moving ahead with this uniqueness of bringing an involvement in this section, where we have not seen a lot of movements. Meanwhile, the services we are catering to are majorly pertaining to HR outsourcing, HR advisory services, audits, and so on. Soon, we are planning to move into the business consulting domain.

What makes Human Connections stand apart from its competitors?
I have closely watched a lot of companies who are working in the same segment, and in my opinion, core execution is the major problem. It remains in the papers, but it is never executed properly. But in Human Connections, we work together as a team and take a united approach towards executing as well as achieving results as a team. The leaders present at the top-notch hierarchical strata across our organization don’t limit themselves only to designing frameworks and instructing, but are also equally involved in all the phases of the execution. So, I think this sets us apart from the other competitors.

What are the major challenges you have experienced in your journey so far? How did you overcome them?
As of the current scenario, women are less accepted in the unorganized and manufacturing
sectors as well. So, I being a single active partner of Human Connections, have seen a lot of restrictions on movements, and execution. But my vision of bringing this organization to the level where I’m seeing it today has given me the confidence to stay strong and nurture this organization with patience and dedication. That’s one of the reasons we are empowering a lot of other females as well, because it is not very difficult for women entrepreneurs to come-up. Rather, we should always visualize the most powerful women who have been doing well in this business arena. Motivated by them, we are also moving ahead, and I’m sure in the years to come, we will grow to the next levels.

What are your goals for the future and how do you strive to achieve them?
Human Connections is planning to venture into the PAN India domain. Meanwhile, we are also seeking to capture a few overseas accounts as well in the upcoming years. We would like to have a lot of women leaders who will be leading our branch offices situated across India and around the globe. Our goal is to expand more into overseas locations, and we want a lot of women like me, who are from the B-towns, to come-up and take-up leadership positions.

Based on your strong professional experience, what advice would you give to the upcoming leaders in the same industry?
I think I would suggest all the upcoming leaders to be open to new ideas and be sure of their vision. They should design new interventions in HR, because the entire scenario of HR is changing, along with the style of working and management. All the leaders can come-up with fresh ideas or new interventions that can help them in their growth.
