Dealing with employee shortage can be difficult, but not dealing with them can be worse. The growing technology trends and the business opportunities that follow are affecting the rise of global talent shortage. A study observes, there will be a global human talent shortage of more than 85 million people by 2030. Among all other countries, the US is going through a predominant scarcity of labor in the IT sector, especially after the pandemic. According to the latest US labor statistics by the end of 2020, there were 1.4 million unfilled IT jobs. The US is under the risk of facing an unrealized output of $162 billion if the country's software developer shortage keeps growing at the same pace. Business development and digital transformation are nearly impossible without new talent, which makes the gap between tech talent supply and demand more sensitive. On the other hand, a recent study suggests that India could have a surplus of more than one million high-skilled tech workers by 2030. Pritish Malaiya, Founder & Chief Growth Officer, Talentmatics moves ahead with a simple agenda of rising with the rise in demand for the right talent. His exceptionally trained team shares his passion and hence excels in locating and procuring the skilled tech talents from India, and provides them with an opportunity to optimize their skills in the US’ Tech industry. He converts the current challenging situation as an opportunity to grow his staffing venture Talentmatics, which is best known for its thorough approach and meticulous research based on market conditions, statistics, facts, and data before serving its clients. It is because of such dedication the company within a five year span has created its own niche in not only the US market, but globally as well.

Take us through your illustrious professional journey. What was your vision behind establishing Talentmatics?
I started my career way back in 2004 after completing my MBA specializing in Human Resource from ITM Group of Institutions, Mumbai. I started working in Wipro in one of the headquarters of the company and it is from there that I learned the skills of recruiting. They provided me with the best culture and environment to excel and learn various processes which were the key to get successful in this field. I was exposed to various businesses. I was able to understand the business needs and the way how a real global company works and meets the business requirement by hiring the best of the talent from the market. After Wipro, I was fortunate enough to work with the organization named PM AM Corporation where I worked for a period of seven years. Initially, I was placed in for the company India and later on I was promoted and transferred to the US being the Head of Talent and Acquisition. I have been the Global Recruitment Head for the company. I acquired a lot of skills, knowledge and contacts
during my work tenure in the US with so many years of profound experience. I wanted to start a venture of my own where I could apply my extensive knowledge about the domain and help other companies find the right talent. This is when I came up with the idea of Talentmatics in the year 2017. I established the company with a simple mission to provide qualified, high caliber talent at the most cost effective rate for my clients. I passionately strive to secure the right fit for my client’s organization. Initially we were catering only in International markets like US & Canada but eventually we started going aggressively in the Indian market and started supporting a few leading clients in the Product Engineering & Cloud space.

We whole heartedly believe in this motto and present to you the finest of candidates by combining our expertise, technology, and our latest assessment of tools

How would you describe Talentmatics as an organization? What is the motto that the company follows while delivering services to its clients?
Talentmatics is a young, dynamic and a fast growing company which works in collaboration with firms across US, Canada & India. We mainly cater IT, Telecom, Automotive and Healthcare are a few industries we serve among others. Our team of highly trained and experienced recruiters understand the usage of all the major Application Tracking Systems and work on all kinds of requirements of the firms, from Direct Hiring to Long term or Short term contracts. At Talentmatics, we whole heartedly believe in this motto and present to you the finest of candidates by combining our expertise, technology and our latest assessment of tools. The core ideology behind Talentmatics’ HR Client Servicing Model is to ensure that our client gets the right candidates, at the right time.

What are your views regarding the pros and the cons that the pandemic has imposed on the staffing industry? What are the major challenges faced by Talentmatics during this situation?
The pandemic has turned everything upside down. But the good thing that the pandemic has brought with it is the value for the nation wide recruitment. This behavioral change in the staffing industry is gearing up the rate of employment and thereby bringing hopes for the countries for a greater economic development. Another great thing that the pandemic has brought into our plates is the advantage of working remotely. Companies realized the fact that work can be done remotely without facing any loss of productivity. Today, any person can be hired anytime sitting anywhere on the Earth with just a click of a button. For staffing companies like us it becomes easier when we do not have to face any location constraint to find talent. This has significantly increased the speed of recruitment, thereby saving a lot of time for our employees. But when there are so many pros there are cons as well. This convenience in hiring has given the liberty to everyone to hire. The competition has certainly gone up. India has touched three trillion in terms of economy and major part of it comes from the IT sector. With such power to hire, IT professionals today have multiple offerings. Candidates with less experience, having minimal salary are being deployed with high raises. We had to lay down strategies to tackle such competition and rapid hiring of the industry.

Talking about Talentmatics, we are having a hard time convincing our employees to visit offices. They are more comfortable working remotely which is there by decreasing the maintenance of the work culture in the company. In the business as well, the joining ratio of the candidates have gone down extensively. Hence, we are trying to tackle these issues by proactively hiring fresh college pass outs from healthcare background and automotive engineering domain in our HR team. They are able to under
stand our needs and serve us better.

In your professional journey so far, what are the milestones that bestowed you with utmost satisfaction?
The fact that I have survived 13 years as a corporate professional and have been able to achieve success in my field is a very big milestone. I am proud that I have been able to deliver my services in the US and build a strong client base globally. I have successfully led a strong team of business enablers and contributed to the significant growth of the US business of a company. I have been able to accomplish a track record of successfully leading various businesses to new markets, partnerships, and strategic acquisitions.

What are the different strategies that you follow to provide a holistic experience to your clients?
We work closely with the US firms and provide the best candidates for the best organizations. This process is carried out through a Vendor Management System (VMS) which updates us about the different openings in the companies there along with the number of slots and a detailed timeline about the positions. This helps us to track perfect fit for the companies and deliver best services to our clients. We have a track record of fulfilling our client’s needs within 24 hours which necessitates us to be proactive and quality conscious. We follow the same strategies for our domestic staffing as well, we are uniquely known for allotting our best talent within 24 hours.

What are the different trends that are taking shape in the staffing industry? How are you equipping yourself to cope up with those trends?
India is growing rapidly in terms of business and employment. We as an organization need to focus on developing strategies that would enable us to meet the growing opportunities. The major challenge that we are facing is the increase in business but a decrease in resources. Hence, we are hiring more people to build up a stronger team. We are investing in our people and training them and at the same time trying to acquire the best of the tools in the Hiring industry. We are looking for trainees in social media portals because there we get to meet live talents. So we are not only dependent on active job seekers but also looking out for people who are passively seeking out for job opportunities.

What advice would you like to give to the budding professionals who aspire to become strong agents of organizational growth?
My advice to the young entrepreneurs would be to create and build a good work culture for the employees. When people come to work with us, they have a lot of expectations from our company. Hence, it becomes our duty to provide a place where they are comfortable to learn and execute new things. If they have taken some body on board, they must make sure they are providing them with proper training and support to build their career. I will urge the future leaders to have a lot of patience while building a venture. Life will throw innumerable challenges throughout the journey but it is on us how we turn these challenges into opportunities. I believe being a leader is about encouraging the growth of the colleagues and employees through positive feedback, correction and communication.
