Tell us about your illustrious professional journey and what drives you today.
I graduated as a Chemical Engineer from NIT Warangal and began my career at IBM, working on applications and databases. While not initially thrilling, this experience sparked my passion for problem-solving and understanding technology's role in business. This led me to explore startups before joining National Instruments, where I've thrived for 16 years. My enduring motivation is solving diverse problems, driven by the sheer number of challenges in India and the enthusiasm for finding solutions.

What are the factors that you take into consideration while shaping market strategies and building solid teams for customer satisfaction?
When shaping market strategies, it's crucial to consider your company's internal strengths and understand market momentum. Key factors include defining your target areas, determining the emphasis on specific market segments, and identifying your organization's unique differentiators or 'moat'. It's also vital to choose the right channels to reach your market and plan a sequence of strategic moves based on competition and market evolution. Finally, assessing economic logic to ensure return on investment is essential.

For building teams focused on customer satisfaction, the primary step is ensuring team satisfaction. Team members must have a problem-solving mindset, empathy, and creativity to effectively address customer issues. Additionally, boldness is essential for making decisions that prioritize customer needs, even if they require challenging the status quo. A culture that values satisfaction—both for employees and customers—is fundamental to achieving outstanding customer service.

Tell us about your leadership approach. What are the guidelines/methodologies you follow as a leader?
My leadership approach adapts to evolving organizational dynamics and business environments. While fixed methods are outdated, I adhere to several fundamental principles. I prioritize authenticity and integrity, ensuring decisions are based on what’s right rather than what’s popular. Anticipating future actions and innovations is key, as is the willingness to act decisively and learn from failures.

Self-awareness is crucial, allowing me to leverage my strengths and seek support for my weaknesses. Mental health is vital for clear thinking and effective leadership. I empower my team to perform independently, intervening only when necessary, and encourage ambition and big-picture thinking among colleagues.

Could you reflect on some of the toughest challenges you have encountered in your journey? How did you overcome them and what did you learn from them?
One of the toughest challenges I've encountered was navigating resource constraints that required tough decisions, such as letting go of highly skilled team members. My approach to problem-solving—breaking down issues into smaller, manageable parts—has always helped me succeed.

In challenging times, understanding and addressing the root problem is crucial. During these difficult periods, I ensured my team developed transferable skills, enabling them to find new opportunities quickly. Witnessing my former team members become successful entrepreneurs and
leaders validates the importance of fostering versatile skills and resilience, highlighting a significant achievement in my leadership journey.

What future destination are you heading towards?
I'm dedicated to propelling National Instruments by leveraging India's rapid growth and positioning us for accelerated success. I aim to extend NI's influence in key international markets and capitalize on emerging global opportunities. Concurrently as an angel investor and startup mentor, I aim to guide emerging companies through their growth journeys. My vision is to foster NI's worldwide growth and support startups in navigating the evolving tech landscape effectively, ensuring sustainable success on a global scale.

I prioritize authenticity & integrity, ensuring decisions are based on what’s right rather than what’s popular

What advice would you like to give to budding industry leaders?
Drawing from my industry experience, I advise budding leaders to prioritize clarity in their thoughts, ensuring they ask questions until clear. Effective communication across teams, peers, and customers is crucial for leadership. Building confidence through preparation and anticipation of challenges is also key—preparation breeds confidence. In essence, focus on clarity, communication, and confidence as foundational traits. Additionally, seek mentorship consistently, as it plays a vital role in leadership development, often underestimated but immensely beneficial.
