Give a brief account of your pro-fessional background and experience. What is the motivation that fuels your daily routines?
Born in 1954 in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, I embarked on a journey of scientific exploration from an early age, achieving gold medalist status in my master’s degree in chemistry. My academic quest led me to a Ph.D. in Polymer Science at IIT Delhi, followed by a transformative postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Florida. Despite facing significant challenges, including visa issues and financial struggles, these experiences fueled my resolve to succeed.
In 1985, I joined the University of Liège in Belgium, where my work on polymeri-zation catalysis yielded over 35 patents and 40 publications, marking my entry into high-impact scientific research. My career continued to evolve with a move to McGill University in Canada and a subsequent role at Pressure Chemical Company in Pitts-burgh.
In 1994, I founded Polymer Source, Inc., which quickly
became a leading supplier of specialty polymers. The drive to overcome obstacles and innovation continues to energize my daily routines, fueling both my personal and professional ambitions.
How has your path to success been, and what is your success mantra?
My career, spanning over 44 years, has been a journey of relentless pursuit and resilience. From establishing the roots of Polymer Source, Inc. in 1994 to nurturing it into a leading global supplier of specialty poly-mers, each phase of this journey has been driven by a core belief: success is a reflection of one's dedi-cation and alignment with their destiny.
My mantra for success is rooted in commitment and strategic foresight. Initially, it was about laying a strong foundation. As we transitioned to growth and innovation, I focused on expanding into specialized sectors like biodegra-dable polymers and semiconductor mate-rials. This strategic diversification, combined with a relentless pursuit of excellence, has positioned Polymer Source for exponential growth.
Embracing the evolving land-scape of R&D, I view each challenge as an opportunity to innovate and excel, with the belief that the universe supports those who are truly devoted to their craft.

What are the challenges and opportunities of relocating Polymer Source to India as a research center for polymers, considering R&D investment?
Relocating Polymer Source to India as research and learning center for polymers presents both significant challenges and promising opportunities. One major challenge is India's current underinvestment in R&D, which limits the country’s global standing in innovation. However, this gap also presents a unique opportunity to drive change. By establishing a strong foundation in polymer research, Polymer Source could become a catalyst for transforming India's scientific landscape. The venture would not only preserve its legacy but also help bridge the innovation gap by attracting top Indian scientists back home. With the support of the Indian government, this initiative could foster a culture of research excellence, contribute to economic growth, and position India as a leader in polymer chemistry, much like China achieved through strategic R&D investments.
How do you keep your self up-to-date with ongoing industry trends to steer your organization towards the future?
To stay ahead of industry trends, we rigorously engage with the latest scientific literature and publications. Our commitment to innovation is demonstrated by allocating 50 percent of our revenue to R&D, which fuels the development of over 100 new polymer architectures annually. This investment ensures that 65-70 percent of our products are unique, solidifying our position as a global leader in specialty polymers. By staying deeply connected with cutting-edge research and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, we keep our organization at the forefront of the industry, poised to navigate future challenges and opportunities effectively.
