Coming from a remote background, Varsha accepts having first hand experience of how certain parts of our country have very little access to quality education. While working at Network for International Law Students (NILS), where she headed their courses team, Varsha felt like this was a way in which she will be able to contribute to changing the status quo. After realizing how passionate she was about bringing about the much required change through education and how satisfying it felt to make a difference in the lives of so many people, she left her dream job and her career with a reputed law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas to set up Bettering Results (BR). Share With US The Inception Story Of Bettering Results That Has Emerged As A Premium E-Learning Platform Across The Legal Education Sector.
I co-founded BR at such a point in time when, even though multiple courses are being offered online by multiple platforms, very few of them target students and professionals from different financial backgrounds and rather focus on the more privileged lot who can afford to spend thousands on them. This created an obscure division between students/ professionals from different backgrounds and hindered the culture of spreading education equally and effectively amongst all. Addressing this problem, we are trying to reserve our

place in the increasingly saturated market of edtech startups.

Many law students graduate every year from various law schools including NLUs but only a few of them can secure good jobs due to a lack of practical training and career guidance. Being a first generation lawyer with a non-NLU background, I experienced this issue of differential treatment first hand that was being meted out to people, not from top NLUs. At BR, our learners secure opportunities based on merit and not based on their college. We highly encourage students from non-NLUs to perform better in their internships with the help of our courses and mentorship programs.

Define Bettering Results As An Organization And Its Position In The Market? What Is Its USP?
BR is built on three major pillars that differentiate it from the other edtech startup competitors of today prioritizing quality education, giving the opportunity to directly learn from incredible and inspiring mentors, and providing the chance of networking with the best minds. So far, our focus has been on developing high quality courses and mentorship programs for law students and lawyers across the world. The instructors we collaborate with are usually Partners from top law firms and consultancy firms in the country and across the world. We have also been helping our learners secure internship opportunities at big law firms through mentorship programs.

What Factors Do You Consider When Assessing The Effectiveness & Efficiency Of Your Courses?
While co-founding BR, one thing that I made sure of is that e-learning should not deter learners from gaining effective knowledge and classroom learning experience should not be taken away. Therefore, BR has included some of the most important principles after examining the various products already available in the market. Firstly, in our courses, sessions with instructors are always live and interactive, ensuring that the

pedagogy engages and motivates the learners. At the same time, we also provide flexibility to learn and revise anytime by providing access to recorded lectures for one year.

Secondly, as we all know the main void in our education system is the lack of required exposure to practical learning, making it difficult to excel in real work. Therefore, in our courses, all our instructors are usually partners from top law firms, renowned advocates and highly qualified professionals who deliver intensive practical knowledge. Thirdly, cost effectiveness is one of the most important principles of e-Learning and we have made sure that our courses are affordable to the masses so that there is always increased access to a great education.

Moreover, we make sure that we get constant feedback from our learners after every session or the course and make it as comfortable as possible for them to come to us with their grievances.

What Advice Would You Give To The Budding Entrepreneurs Of The E-Learning Industry?
The essential of an e-Learning platform is the people connected with it. Therefore, never take your learners for granted, and always be there to resolve their concerns at the earliest possible. Having said that, never stop learning, as learning is growing, which is critical to success.

Hailing from Ganj Dinara, a village in the State of Madhya Pradesh, Varsha commenced her professional journey in the insolvency law sector. She graduated from the School of law, UPES, Dehradun. However, after realizing that she has more inclination towards providing access to a great education to the unprivileged students, she resigned from her job to develop Bettering Results(BR).
