The Pearl City, Hyderabad is one of the major contributors to fast-paced development of Telangana state. The prime location of the city and clear political support from Telangana government has resulted in the entry of many large companies into the city and the exploitation of investment opportunities. Hyderabad has emerged as one of the most progressive and high-value city globally as it is being ranked fifth among the 150 cities in JLLs City Momentum Index report. The economic pattern and the face of the city began to change from the end of 21st century. The city economy which was based on traditional manufacturing, knowledge sector and tourism, started to diversify to the profit from industries and corporate companies.
Hyderabad is the largest contributor to the SGDP of Telangana. This has amplified the importance of the city in its contribution to national development and economy. The city which was once a major trade centre now became a growing technological hub. The growth of IT enterprises, biotech, insurance, and financial institutions, and a strong employment base in ancillary activities such as trade and commerce, transport, storage, communication, real-estate and retail, changed the face of the city, giving birth to today’s Hyderabad. The growing IT/ITeS sector and the robust infrastructure development are the major growth drivers in Telangana, and Hyderabad is the major contributor to this development. Progressive reforms in industrial policies and government agencies play a major role in the growth of the city. Public sector companies play a major role in the growth History of Hyderabad. With the break of new century, the industrial landscape of the city also changed with the dominance of IT and MNCs.
