The last decade has been revolutionary for the digital marketing industry. Riding on the back of burgeoning internet usage, the digital marketing industry in India is growing at a rate of 25-to-30 percent annually. It’s a great omen that the decade witnessed an impressive number of women marketers rising up their ranks to become influential thought leaders and trailblazers. It however doesn’t mean that the challenges for women in the sector are non-existent. Starting from the fact that less than a third of the digital marketing workforce is female, they continue to make progress in battling the challenges like representation, access to senior roles, and the pay gap based on gender. While social media has emerged to become the new source of influence, women marketers have been instrumental in responding to this rapidly changing sector, positioning themselves as industry experts. In the language of numbers, 68 percent of social media influencers are women who leverage the power of social media marketing. They excel in identifying the hottest, futuristic platforms and building marketing strategies around them, tackling all the challenges en route. This disruptive environment is what aids women in finding their feet as influencers and trailblazers. In this issue of siliconindia, we have listed ‘Top 10 Women Marketers - 2019”.
