After being involved in the educational sector for years, Rohit Kumar finally found a gap in the industry in terms of people favoring their mobile more than other tools for learning. After realizing that the future of content, to a great extent, will be on mobile, he started Chapter Apps, a mobile-based world-class platform for engaging and developing professional learners, in 2014. Going through several reforms in its existing name- Thomason College of Civil Engineering (1854), University of Roorkee (1949), and again IIT Roorkee (2001), the institute is the oldest engineering institution in India, founded as the College of Civil Engineering in British India in 1847 by the Lieutenant-Governor of the North- Western Provinces, James Thomason, for training officers and surveyors employed in the construction of the Ganges Canal.
The institution has 22 academic departments covering Engineering, Applied Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences and Management programs with an emphasis on scientific and technological education and research. Filling up the knowledge barrel of many prospective individuals the institute has created many tech leaders till date who have become skilled problem solvers and business enablers driving national and international organizations towards prolific growth, instilling competition for new market opportunities.
