Top 10 Leaders in Tea & Coffee - 2022
There’s not a man, woman or child on the face of the earth who doesn’t enjoy a tasty beverage. One sip of this will bathe the drooping spirits in delight, beyond the bliss of dreams. While coffee is the official beverage of culture, tea is the spirit for peace, comfort, and refinement. Tea and coffee are among the oldest organized sectors in India. Indian tea is amongst the finest in the world due to the heavy investments and innovations in the processing units and the care taken during harvest and processing, owing to the importance the citizens give to ‘chai’ in their everyday life. Main tea cultivation areas in the south Asian country are in Assam, Darjeeling and the Dooars region. Almost three fourths of the produce is consumed locally within the nation. However, a lot of value is also generated through exports. The value of tea and coffee exports from India was over Rs.115 billion in fiscal year 2018.
Coffee is also a popular commodity that is produced extensively in the country. India is the third largest producer of coffee in Asia, followed by Vietnam and Indonesia. The global coffee and tea market had grown to $143.08 billion in 2021 from $140.2 billion in 2020, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 2.1 percent. The market is further expected to reach $193.78 billion in 2025 growing at a CAGR of eight percent. The 46 percent of the market accounts for Asia- Pacific, which is the largest global coffee and tea market, followed by Western Europe.
The coffee and tea market consists of sales of coffee and tea by entities (organizations, sole traders and partnerships) that produce roasting coffee, blending tea, coffee & tea concentrates, herbal tea, coffee extracts, flavorings and syrups. Keeping in mind this flourishing industry, this issue of the CEO Insight magazine introduces you to a list of 'Top 10 Leaders in Tea & Coffee – 2022’, highlighting the individuals who have helped in the transformation and growth of caffeinated drinks or beverages sector of the country.
