Ramya Hariharan , Founder, Citadel Law Chambers
Recently, there has been a noteworthy rise of women in the global legal profession, but their number is significantly less than their male counterparts. According to a recent study, although women began to emerge as front runners in the legal profession at a global level in the 2000s, the gender balance still continues to remains skewed. Reportedly, India has the lowest representation of women in the law in comparison to various other countries at a global level. But the scenario seems to take a promising turn, as the Indian legal domain is experiencing the arrival of phenomenal legal stalwarts. Equipped with industry specific expertise, these women leaders refuse to be prejudiced based on their gender and demand to be reckoned solely on account of their leadership and competence. One such persona is Ramya Hariharan (Founder, Citadel Law Chambers), who is not only addressing newage challenges through her firm Citadel Law Chambers, but has also emerged as an inspiration to numerous other aspiring women professionals in the legal sector.

With the passing of decades, things have improved far and much better. Today, courtroom facilities are improved enough to have women lawyers. There are a number of women doing really well in legal consulting profession in India. Some of them have succeeded and have reached one of the most respected positions in the country, the Supreme Court judge.
