| | DECEMBER 20234The past year has been tough on Byju's, pulling the edtech firm to various controversies. The company entered a transformation phase after Arjun Mohan took over as CEO in September. Byju's has now elevated Jiny Thattil (pic) as its new chief technology officer (CTO) as a part of the edtech firm's ongoing strategic restructuring and reorientation of its leadership team to further enhance operational efficiency. It's beyond any doubt that Byju's expects a near magic from its new CTO. With the organizations' constant need to digitally transform and improve customer experience, the CTOs are under pressure like never before. Most of the CTOs migrated to the cloud to ensure the delivery was resilient and consistent and the deliverables maintained a high level of quality. We owe a lot to technologies becoming more plug-and-play, more driven by the cloud, and simpler to use. They make it easier to test ideas and move on faster if they fail. But along with this blossom came an increased level of cyber threat. The cyber attackers unleashed themselves on this opportunity, and the consequences were catastrophic. According to reports, the European Union hosted a rise in cyber threats over the past twelve months, triggered by the war in Ukraine and broader geopolitical tensions. In the process, the UK had the highest number of cybercrime victims per million internet users at 4783 in 2022 up by 40 percent from 2020. According to a report, the Asia-Pacific region faced the maximum number of cyberattacks for the second consecutive year in 2022, accounting for 31 percent of all incidents remediated worldwide. In the US, the number of data compromises stood at 1802 cases. Meanwhile, over 422 million individuals were affected in the same year by data compromises, including data breaches, leakage, and exposure. The cyber-sec community is constantly warning the business world, and it's high time business owners listened to those warnings and adopted a zero-trust policy.Sujith VasudevanManaging Editoreditor@ceoinsightsindia.comAre We Dumping Pressure on CTOs?
