| | DECEMBER 20234The Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), a UK-based company that analyzes higher education institutions worldwide, has released its 2024 ranking. India has emerged as the most represented higher education system, surpassing China this year. According to the QS analysts, India is now home to 148 featured universities, 37 more than last year. It is followed by China with 133 and Japan with 96--besides, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Nepal feature for the first time. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has retained its position as the best Institute in the country. QS' statement reveals, "The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay) retains its status as the premier institution in the nation. Notably, the top three rankings at the national level remain consistent with the previous edition of the rankings, i.e. IIT-Delhi and IIT-Madras. IIT Bombay leads nationally in both Academic and Employer Reputation indicators, drawing on the expert opinions of 144,000 academics and employers. It ranks in the top 20 Asian institutions for Employer Reputation".IIT Bombay secured an overall score of 67.2 out of 100. Delving deeper, the Institute scored 83.5 in academic reputation, 96 in employer reputation, 9.3 in citation per paper, 14.8 in faculty-student ratio, 100 in staff with PhD, 95.7 in papers per faculty, 66.3 in international research network, 11.1 in international faculty ratio, 3 in international students ratio, 2.1 in inbound exchange and 4.1 in outbound exchange all scores out of a maximum of 100 points. Among these 11 indicators, Staff with PhD indicated the strongest one for IIT Bombay with a rank of 18 regionally.
