| | AUGUST 20238Manish Uppal has been named Head of Flight Operations at Tata-owned Air India. Uppal, who is currently the Head of Operations at Air Asia India, will take on the role of Head of Flight Operations (Designate) at Air India Limited with immediate effect, according to an announcement."In his new role, he will be reporting to the Chief of Operations, Capt. R S Sandhu," the statement said. "Manish is a trained airline transport pilot with over 19 years of experience in fleet training, commercial flight operations, and management." He is a DGCA-approved TRI (A) and Designated Examiner on A 320, according to the statement.As per Air India, he has held various leadership positions in airline operations in his previous airlines and was part of the startup team of AirAsia India (which marked the return of Tata Group into aviation). In July 2023, UPI transactions reached a new high of 996 crore, a 6 Percent increase from 934 crore in June. The value of transactions also reached a new high, rising 4 Percent from June to Rs 15.34 lakh crore.Every three days, the payments system processes nearly 1 billion (100 crore) UPI transactions. NPCI CEO Dilip Asbe previously stated that the company was preparing to handle billions of transactions per day within two to three years.Year on year, UPI transactions increased by 58 Percent in volume and 44 Percent in value. The next significant increase, according to payments industry experts, is expected in the third quarter, when festivals congregate and consumption peaks.
