For instance, the global communities were forced to see how Data Analytics and Predictive computing played a significant role in pandemic preparedness and the development of vaccines. It's no wonder that we expect more from the scientific communities and even academia in that regard. They constantly look for powerful, high-performance computing and predictive technologies to better understand major societal challenges. Over the past more than 150 years, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has built a great reputation for solving such societal challenges through innovative, technologically sound multidimensional approaches. A more sustainable way to generate phosphorus, a super-cold quantum computing technology that prevents overheating, a modular system to produce efficient, scalable aquabots, and vertical, full-color microscopic LEDs are only a few of such inventions the Institute hosted in the last 30 days! It is no wonder MIT is one of the world's leading educational destinations.MIT came into existence on April 10, 1861, when it was granted its official charter by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. But it took another four years for the first classes to begin, as the Civil War began on April 12, a couple of days after. MIT is home to nearly 145,000 alumni who continue to foray into the most talented, innovative, and networked communities on the planet. Many remain deeply involved in the life of the Institute.
