| | JULY 20224 Homeowners are evolving, and they are evolving fast. Traditionally, the concept of interior design was considered a luxury and a thing of riches. But today, whether it is the minimalisms of the Italian interiors, earthly tones of the Greek and Roman designs, or the deep religious & cultural symbolism embedded in the Indian homes, every homeowner fancy their home to be world-class while effusing a little bit of their self. The elementary logic behind India building a new parliament building is no different. Originally called the House of Parliament, the Indian parliament building we use now was designed by the British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker in 1912-13 as part of their wider mandate to construct a new administrative capital city for British India. Intrinsically, it effuses the essence of the British. As India endeavors to reinvent itself in the global arena with its new approach of self-reliance and ambitions of building a new persona, a new Parliament building that stands tall as a symbol of a new and self-reliant India fits right in. The ambitious Rs.20,000 crore Central Vista project will be triangular in shape, and its interiors will have three national symbols--the lotus, the peacock, and the banyan tree--as its themes.Going forward, it's no rocket science that the interior design industry in India will grow--in both commercial and home interiors segments. The interior design market in India is projected to reach $38.2 billion by 2027, growing at a CAGR of 7.4 percent. The opportunities in the industry are tremendous, but it poses an equal amount of challenges in diverse forms. However, getting your first client and making the project do your bidding is of utmost importance.
