Polavarapu Mallikharjuna Prasad, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Coal India Limited, was the chief guest at the convocation ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, he said, "The growing Indian economy promises a brighter future for young engineers. Globalization means additional job opportunities. Because of its vast and highly talented human resources, India has become a favorite destination for many MNCs to set up their production lines in the country. The future is bright, and you are part of that future in India,".A press release from NIT Rourkela says that eight students received the Institute Gold Medal, and five received the Endowment Gold Medal. There were also seven Endowment Winners, one was given a Rs. 1,00,000 endowment prize for being the Top Student Research Scholar for 2023.The outgoing batch has also set new benchmarks in achieving campus placements. NIT Rourkela received the highest number of job offers during last year's campus placements. According to the information shared by the institute, more than 330 companies awarded about 1,534 job offers. About 24 graduates got an annual package of more than 50 lakh and eight of them got 52.89 lakh per year. The average CTC (cost to company) went up by 16 percent from 11.15 LPA last year to 12.95 LPA in 2022-2023. The average CTC of B.Tech graduates this year is 14.22 LPA.
