Samsung Semiconductor Expands in Bengaluru with New R&D Facility
Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has opened its second research and development (R&D) center in Bengaluru, emphasizing the company's dedication to growing in India. The new facility, located in the Angkor-West area at Bagmane Capital Tech Park, spans 160,000 square feet across four floors. Capable of hosting around 1,600 professionals, SSIR intends to encourage innovation and cooperation in the country. This move underscores the company's commitment to expanding its footprint and fostering a collaborative research environment in India.
Balajee Sowrirajan, the Executive Vice President and Managing Director at SSIR, has affirmed the company's commitment to expanding its presence in India. With a current workforce of over 4,500 employees, SSIR aims to increase its staff by more than 700 professionals, encompassing both recent graduates and experienced hires across diverse teams.
In a strategic move, SSIR has recently collaborated with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) to establish a Quantum Technology Lab. This advanced facility will concentrate on the integration of cryogenic control chips with qubits, single photon sources, and detectors to tackle reliability challenges in quantum technologies. It is positioned to serve as a center for technological innovation, employee training, and collaboration with quantum research institutions on both national and international levels.
The Quantum Technology Lab is anticipated to play a crucial role in advancing quantum research and technology, highlighting SSIR's commitment to remaining at the forefront of state-of-the-art developments in the semiconductor industry.
