AdaniAdani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has announced the acquisition of the Khavda Phase-IV Part-A transmission project, a significant step in strengthening its position as India’s largest private sector transmission entity. The 298-kilometer project, valued at Rs 4,091 crore, will facilitate the transfer of 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda Renewable Energy (RE) park to the national grid.

Awarded through a tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, this project is set to be operational within the next 24 months, with AESL responsible for its maintenance over the next 35 years.

Kandarp Patel, CEO of AESL, highlighted the project's importance, stating, “Khavda, being the world’s largest renewable energy park, requires top-tier and robust infrastructure for power evacuation. This investment will not only establish a crucial transmission network but also support the grid stability needed for the park’s ambitious 30 GW green power generation.”

The acquisition of Khavda IVA Power Transmission Ltd, an SPV created by REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) to manage the 7 GW renewable energy evacuation, further solidifies AESL’s role in India’s energy transition. The company has received a letter of intent (LOI) from RECPDCL, enhancing its leadership position in the sector.

With this addition, AESL will oversee 21,783 circuit kilometers of transmission lines and 61,686 MVA of transformation capacity. The Khavda RE park, which aims to reach a 30 GW generation capacity, is expected to play a pivotal role in India’s decarbonization efforts.

Adani Group’s strategic development of Khavda from a barren area into a key component of India’s net zero objectives underscores its commitment to transforming the country’s energy landscape.
