Adani Foundation Receives 'Van Pandit Award' for Afforestation Efforts in Mundra
The Adani Foundation has been honored with the prestigious 'Van Pandit Award' for its significant afforestation efforts in Mundra, Gujarat, where it successfully planted over 1,70,000 trees during the 2022-23 period. The award was presented by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in a ceremony attended by senior officials.
The recognition places the Adani Foundation at the forefront of tree plantation initiatives in India. Emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation, Chief Minister Patel encouraged citizens to plant trees in honor of their mothers and ancestors, aligning with the state's ambitious goal of planting 17 crore trees by March 2025.
The Adani Foundation initiated its afforestation drive in Mundra’s Nana Kapaya village during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21. Since then, it has undertaken tree plantation activities at more than 150 locations across 35 villages in the Mundra region.
“Our afforestation and organic farming initiatives are not just enriching the soil but also helping farmers adopt sustainable and profitable farming practices”, stated Vasant Gadhavi, Executive Director of Adani Foundation.
The Foundation's efforts have engaged the local community, with around 50,000 plants being planted by residents of Mundra taluka. Additionally, the Foundation distributed 21,000 date and mango plants to farmers in the region.
For the past 28 years, the Adani Foundation has been dedicated to creating a sustainable environment and empowering communities, with its recent recognition further cementing its role in environmental stewardship.
