Adani Group Partners with MP Government to Plant 11 Lakh Saplings in Indore
The Adani Group has announced a collaboration with the Madhya Pradesh government to plant 11 lakh saplings in Indore, as part of its broader commitment to sustainable environmental practices. This initiative aligns with the Group's ambitious goal to plant and nurture 100 million trees by the year 2030.
Under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aims to plant 1.4 billion trees nationwide, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya have pledged to plant 5.5 crore trees across 55 districts in the state.
The 11 lakh saplings provided by the Adani Group will consist of 25 different species, contributing to biodiversity enhancement in Indore's green zones. This effort underscores Adani Group's commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
The Adani Group's commitment to plant 100 million trees by 2030 is part of its participation in 1t.org, the World Economic Forum’s 'Trillion Trees Platform'. This initiative, which includes the conservation of 29.52 million trees already planted, represents one of the most ambitious corporate commitments on the platform to date.
By aligning with India’s nationally determined contribution (NDC) under the Paris Agreement, the Adani Group aims to create a significant carbon sink, sequestering 2.5-3.0 billion tonnes of CO2. This commitment underscores the Group's proactive stance towards addressing climate change and its long-term goal of transitioning to a low-carbon, carbon-neutral, and eventually net-zero business model.
