After 26-year at Qualcomm, Steve to Hand Over the Reign to Cristiano
The wireless chipmaker, Qualcomm is gearing up for its leadership change. Its current CEO Steve Mollenkopf will retire this summer. President Cristiano Amon will take over the rein on June 30. Steve, the 52-year old leader, has been with the company for past 26 years. He took over the CEO role in 2014. Post his retirement from the role, Steve will continue his employment with the company as a strategic adviser for a period of time.
On the other hand, Cristiano has been with Qualcomm since 1995 and had started his career as an engineer. He has served as the company’s president since 2018. Cristiano has overseen the company’s 5G strategy and its expansion of getting its chips into cars and IoT devices. He has also overseen the company’s efforts to expand its portfolio to provide more parts necessary for connecting a phone to a cellular network.
