Air India Launches New Airbus A350 on Delhi-London Heathrow Route
Air India, owned by the Tata Group, has introduced its new Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the Delhi-London Heathrow route, which will now operate twice daily. The new A350s will replace the Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on 14 of the 17 weekly flights, adding 336 additional seats per week.
The A350-900 features 28 private suites with fully reclining beds in Business Class, 24 seats in a dedicated Premium Economy cabin, and 264 seats in Economy Class. This move is intended to significantly enhance the travel experience with top-notch amenities and increased comfort.
Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, emphasized the importance of this upgrade, stating, "The introduction of the A350s on the Delhi-London Heathrow route represents a major milestone for Air India, showcasing our dedication to delivering a world-class travel experience".
Passengers will enjoy the latest inflight entertainment system, offering over 3,000 hours of content, and will soon benefit from onboard Wi-Fi. Business and Premium Economy travelers will also experience 'Vista Verve' dining with upgraded chinaware and new uniforms designed by Manish Malhotra for the crew.
The A350 is equipped with the Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system, featuring HD screens with content in 13 international and eight Indian regional languages, plus over 100 hours of programming for children. The menu offers a variety of Indian and international cuisine served in fine chinaware with designs inspired by India.
Earlier this year, Air India began using the A350s on domestic and short-haul international flights. The addition of these aircraft aims to enhance the quality of long-haul flights with their advanced features and increased capacity.
