Air India Unveils AI-Powered Baggage Tracking for Real-Time Updates
Air India has unveiled a new AI-powered feature, 'AEYE Vision', in its mobile app, enabling passengers to track their checked-in baggage in real time. By scanning baggage tags, travelers can receive instant updates on their bags' status, including when they are loaded, unloaded, and ready for pickup at baggage claim. This feature addresses recent baggage-related complaints and aims to improve the passenger experience.
'AEYE Vision' also offers passengers access to flight details, boarding passes, baggage status, and meal options by scanning a code on their ticket, boarding pass, or baggage tag. The feature utilizes AI-based computer vision technology, which analyzes images and videos using advanced algorithms to achieve high accuracy in recognizing objects and patterns.
Air India plans to enhance the app's functionality further, with upcoming features like baggage dimension checks, passport scans, image-based destination searches, and augmented reality-based destination information. These additions are expected in the coming months.
Satya Ramaswamy, Air India's Chief Digital and Technology Officer, highlighted the potential of modern computer vision technologies, noting their ability to match or even exceed human perception in recognizing patterns. This innovation can simplify data entry processes on mobile devices, streamlining operations and enhancing user convenience.
The introduction of 'AEYE Vision' marks a significant step in Air India's efforts to leverage cutting-edge technology to improve customer service and operational efficiency.
