Airbus Signs up With Mahindra to Manufacture Components
Airbus, a leading European manufacturer of aircraft and aerospace systems, said that it has renewed agreements with many Indian suppliers to produce commercial aircraft parts. Airbus, contracts have been struck with Aequs, Dynamatic, Gardner, and Mahindra Aerospace to supply airframe and wing parts for the A320neo, A330neo, and A350 projects.
The most recent agreements come after Tata Advanced Systems was responsible for manufacturing the bulk cargo and cargo doors for the A320neo family earlier this year, according to Airbus. According to the corporation, it already purchases goods and services from India for USD 750 million annually, and the most recent round of contracts will greatly increase those amounts.
"The cornerstone of Airbus' Indian strategy is made in India. "We are pleased to be establishing all the essential components for a cohesive industrial network that will catapult India into the forefront of aerospace production countries", expressed Remi Maillard, the president and managing director of Airbus India and South Asia. India is Airbus's strategic resource hub for human capital and aerospace services and components, making it more than just a market. With Aequs, Dynamatic, Gardner, and Mahindra Aerospace, we are thrilled to expand our cooperation", he remarked.
These contracts will boost India's aviation ecosystem's capability and capacity across a range of technologies, including sheet metal, machining, and extrusion profiles, and will help Airbus accelerate its commercial aircraft programmes globally. Airbus stated that it supports approximately 10,000 employees in India and its supply chain, which is projected to increase to 15,000 by 2025.
