Ajit Mohan, the newly-appointed Asia Pacific president of Snap. Inc, will lead the company’s cross-functional efforts across India, Australia & New Zealand, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and South Korea, founder and CEO Evan Spiegel, wrote in an internal memo on Thursday.

Mohan will join Snap in February. ET has reviewed a copy of the communication sent to Snap employees.

“Ajit will provide in-market leadership, lead cross-functional efforts across the region, oversee all local operations, and lead our go-to-market strategy. He's a talented and well respected executive with a breadth of experience that will serve our community and partners in wonderful ways!,” Spiegel wrote, adding that Mohan will be a member of Snap's executive team and report to chief operating officer Jerry Hunter.

In line with the company’s structure in Americas and EMEA markets, the regional APAC sales team will report to Mohan.

“Ajit will be a member of Snap's executive team and report to Jerry Hunter. Similar to the global structure in Americas and EMEA, the regional sales teams will report to the new President, with Kathryn Carter (KC) and her current APAC sales teams, as well as the India and China sales teams reporting to Ajit,” said Spiegel.

At Snap, Mohan joins in to lead an important market – given that the APAC region contains approximately two-thirds of total addressable markets of smartphone users aged 13 and above, who do not yet use the ephemeral messaging platform.

Mohan joins Snap from Meta where he was vice-president and managing director in India, and had been responsible for managing the growth of Meta’s flagship products, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

Prior to Meta, Mohan was with Hotstar where he was instrumental in the platform’s growth into one of India’s leading video-streaming platforms. He is an alumnus of McKinsey and company’s New York office where he worked with media companies around the globe.
