Leading global provider of artificial intelligence (AI) and computational science, Altair, has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras to create an eMobility simulation lab on the institute’s premises.

This partnership demonstrates Altair's dedication to furthering EV research and development, which is consistent with its commitment to sustainability and innovation.

The eMobility Simulation lab, located in the Department of Engineering Design at IIT Madras, will get Altair's assistance in providing Altair® HyperWorks® and the necessary computational infrastructure backbone to execute Altair simulation codes. To provide students, researchers, and businesses with state-of-the-art technologies and resources to further the study and development of EVs, this funding is essential.

The establishment of the IIT Madras eMobility simulation lab is a critical step in promoting sustainable transportation options and furthering EV research.

Welcoming the launch of this new facility, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “Given the Government’s focus on eMobility and rapid expansion of the market that is expected, there is a need for IIT Madras to play its role in the academic space.

"eMobility-related initiatives in Academic Programs, Research and Policy are all managed and offered with multiple Departments contributing with the Department of Engineering Design acting as the nodal department”, added Prof.Kamakoti.

"We are thrilled to join forces with IIT Madras in this endeavour, turning this forward-thinking initiative into reality,” said Vishwanath Rao, Managing Director, Altair.

Prof. V. Kamakoti added, “In the coming years, we will be seeing a cluster of initiatives, facilities and Programs in eMobility from IIT Madras to equip Industry and Government to address the challenges in ramping up the market for EVs.”

Partnerships such as this bring together industry and academic expertise - both increasingly essential ingredients for creating successful startups and ideas”, Prof. Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relationship, IIT Madras, said.
