Bata Elevates India CEO Sandeep Kataria as its Global Business Head
The renowned footwear maker Bata has named its India CEO Sandeep Kataria as its global CEO - Bata Brands with immediate effect. The company's board of directors at a meeting held on Monday. However, Bata India has stated in a filing to the stock exchanges late Monday.
With this Sandeep turns to be first Indian to head Bata globally. He would be succeeding Alexis Nasard, who would be stepping down from this role after serving for about five years, according to the company.
Also, Sandeep had joined Bata India IN 2017 as its CEO. Prior to that, he was associated with the firms like Unilever, Yum Brands, and Vodafone in India and Europe. Furthermore, he was involved in leading businesses and powerhouse brands that command impressive consumer following and extensive global reach.
Commenting on his new role, Sandeep Kataria states, “I am honored to accept this new appointment and excited by the journey ahead of us. Bata is a brand with an enviable reputation for high quality, affordable footwear. I have been privileged to be part of Bata’s success in India and I look forward to building further on our proud, 120-year history as shoemakers to the world. In a statement, the company said that as the CEO of Bata India Ltd, Kataria has helped drive its “consistent growth and profitability”. Under his leadership, Bata India doubled its profits driven by double-digit topline growth, and sponsored some of the most ingenious campaigns, that include ‘Surprisingly Bata’, that renovated Bata’s image as a more vibrant and contemporary brand, targeted at younger consumers.
