Bengaluru to Emerge as India's Nano Tech Hub: CM Siddaramaiah

AtAt the inauguration of the 13th ‘Bengaluru India Nano’, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the city is set to become India’s leading hub for nanotechnology. The event, a key gathering in the nanotechnology sector, attracted numerous experts and industry participants.

During his speech, CM Siddaramaiah expressed his confidence in Bengaluru’s transformation, supported by premier research institutions like IISc, JNCASR, NCBS, and CeNS. “With the backing of these prestigious institutions, Bengaluru will evolve into India’s Nano Tech Hub, securing its leadership in this emerging technology”, he declared.

The Chief Minister highlighted the essential role of nanotechnology in solving various issues. “I urge our scientists and engineers to create innovative nanotechnology solutions for food security, energy security, water purification, infrastructure, medicine, healthcare, and waste management. These innovations are crucial for tackling environmental challenges expected to increase due to urbanization, population growth, and lifestyle changes”, he said.

Emphasizing the importance of the event, CM Siddaramaiah noted, “International gatherings like this offer valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, technology sharing, skill development, and business partnerships”. He invited young entrepreneurs to seize these opportunities and start new ventures in Karnataka, promising government support to foster a favorable ecosystem for the nanotechnology industry.

CM Siddaramaiah also thanked Bharat Ratna Prof. CNR Rao for his continuous guidance in organizing the event since its beginning in 2007. He congratulated Prof. Arindam Ghosh, the recipient of the prestigious Prof. CNR Rao Bengaluru India Nano Science Award, acknowledging his significant contributions to the field.

Reflecting on Karnataka’s legacy, the Chief Minister said, “Karnataka is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and strong foundation in education and research. Our state leads in technology-based innovations”.
