The appointment follows Zomato's recent ₹8,500 crore fundraise through a qualified institutional placement, as reported by ET Tech. The raised capital is expected to fuel the expansion of Blinkit’s quick commerce services, aligning with the sector's growing momentum in India.

Kapooria joins Blinkit after a successful stint at Flipkart, where he played a pivotal role in the company's rise as a market leader. Announcing his departure, Kapooria expressed gratitude to the Flipkart team, saying, “I am grateful for the incredible experiences and growth during my time at Flipkart”.

In addition to his tenure at Flipkart, Kapooria brings a wealth of experience from prominent organizations, including Whirlpool India, Oyo, and Yum Restaurants. His transition to Blinkit reflects a growing trend of executives moving from established e-commerce firms to quick commerce businesses, as the segment continues to evolve and diversify.
