Budget 2024: A Boost for the Middle Class and a Path to 'Viksit Bharat', Says PM Modi

PrimePrime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Union Budget 2024-25 as ‘holistic and all-inclusive’, asserting that it is designed to empower every segment of society while paving the way for a ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India).

In his initial reaction to the Budget, PM Modi highlighted that the Budget would drive prosperity for farmers, create new opportunities for the youth, and enhance growth in education and skills training. “This budget will strengthen all sections of society”, Modi stated. “It will support the middle class, fortify backward classes, and boost women's economic participation. Small traders and MSMEs will also receive significant support for accelerated growth”.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Budget, presented as the first of Modi's third term, outlines nine key priorities of the government. PM Modi emphasized that the Budget aims to significantly enhance job creation and self-employment across the country. “The NDA government has provided relief to those in lower and middle-income tax brackets over the past decade. The revised tax slabs and increased standard deduction are steps in this direction. Every taxpayer will benefit”, he noted.

The Prime Minister also asserted that the Budget would act as a catalyst for advancing India’s growth trajectory and position the country as the third-largest economy in the coming years. “It will lay a robust foundation for the emergence of Viksit Bharat”, PM Modi concluded, reinforcing his vision for a developed and prosperous India.
